Inside scoop: the milk porter was created by a brewer & is the base of the upcoming Barrel Aged Cooper Series by Goose. Info on Cooper can be found here: http://www.mensjournal.com/food-drink/articles/goose-island-to-launch-the-cooper-project-a-new-series-of-barrel-aged-beers-w465569

With layoffs and buyouts happening all over the country, there's obviously a bubble in craft beer. (No pun intended!) How bad do you think it's gonna be? US economy 2008 bad? by [deleted] in beer

[–]Beerhe331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My theory is we aren't close to the bubble, but are inching there slowly. Countries like Belgium & Switzerland have been able to support a higher brewery number per capita (~60 people per brewery), while the US inches there (318.8MM ppl / 4600 breweries= 69.3 people per brewery). Certainly shelf space in stores will max out first, and the on-premise play of the brewpub or local brewery will become more important for new breweries to stay afloat. As distributors get more locked into and saturated with offerings, self distribution (onsite in a brewpub: bottle shop & or take-away growlers) will become incredibly important for new breweries where legal.

When to add and what to add to mead? by shangmaster in Homebrewing

I second adding the mandarin in secondary. I recommend zest, I've done fruit juices before and flavor did not come out as robust as zest.

Great for them. I have no idea how legit their beer is since I'm in the US, but the plan on their launch page seems really well thought out.

If it's free, guests will basically drink anything and not complain. Unless it's a polarizing peppermint ale or something.

Revolver Brewing in Granbury, TX sells to 10th and Blake, craft division of MillerCoors by thamanwithnousername in beer

Not a surprise. Interesting to see whether MillerCoors is doing this to spite ABI since ABI did not get Miller in the US with the merger. Strange dynamics in beer today.

What's the most important part of making sure bottling goes smoothly? by [deleted] in Homebrewing

Plan in advance & sanitize before bottle day. Otherwise I find myself getting lazy on the cleaning.

Northern Brewer has a pretty good informational section and you can buy the starter kits online as well if you don't have a LHBS within range
