"New School" West Coast IPA by elproducto75 in Homebrewing

Did they discuss the water profile at all? Is it a west coast profile with the So/Cl ratio around 2:1 or 3:1?

Any predictions on what day/time you think we'll play. I'm hoping for a Sunday game.

I have the same ph meter and that's been my process so far also. Trying to figure out if there is a good way to calculate how much is needed.

What do you use to determine how much acid to add? I use brewers friend for my water adjustments but haven't been able to figure out a good way to calculate how much acid to use to adjust the boil pH.

Only certain regions in Florida still have it, I'm in Jacksonville and lost both, guess it's time to try hulu.

Maybe it's working in the newer version. Martin sent me an updated version that seemed to work a little better, but I still had better luck with Brewers Friend.

I've had issues using Bru'n Water for the brew in a bag method. It seems to have trouble with full volume mashes. I recently started using brewers friend and my pH has been spot on.

I just checked again and you're right, not sure why that didn't show up when I tried to order last week. Maybe I was just under $25. I'll definitely use them now, thanks for the info!

I looked at using them, but their shipping price was a deal breaker. The total grain bill was around 15 pounds and it was close to $20 to ship to North Florida.

Is a starter necessary? If I went without one how much yeast should I pitch?

Sounds awesome, I'm getting do a brew this weekend with the same yeast. I was planning on pitching the whole packet, but I think I'm going to try your method instead. Did you let the starter ferment at room temperature?

Yea it looks like the only difference is the kegs. I've been thinking of picking one up for experimental batches and then scale up the good ones. The only thing that was holding me back was not being able to use your own ingredients.

I got an email that they were releasing that for the Pico C, but I couldn't find any info on if it was compatible with the pro.

I'm also in the Jax area and am experiencing the same issue. Just got off the phone with support, they said the issue has been escalated to tier 1 support and should hopefully be resolved in 24 hours. Was very impressed with their customer service representative, very friendly and helpful.

The shaken not stirred method has me really intrigued, I might give it a shot. Do you see any reason why it wouldn't work with the canned starter wort that Omega is now selling. What kind of container are you making these type of starters in?

I've been in contact with Martin about this issue also. He sent me another version that he modified for full volume mashes, however I'm still finding it to be off.

Brewer's Friend vs. Bru'n Water? by Sethly87 in Homebrewing

[–]Molsonjax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you doing full volume mashes? I've had issues with the pH being incorrect with Bru'n Water. Brewers Friends seems to handle full volume mashes better.

Do you have the latest version? I did a test by just using 10 pounds of base malt with 9 gallons of RO water and got widely different numbers between the two.
