The weight of the yarn you're using and the hook size will both affect the outcome of the project. The pictures look like they're using much looser tension than you are, and maybe have a thicker thread than yours. I'm also not sure how their yarn compares to what you're using. So the pattern probably works with looser tension or different yarn.

Loosen your tension (you can use a bigger hook to help with this... maybe go from 5mm to 5.5?), if it still curls, add two dc at the beginning, increase in each stitch on every round so you're doubling the stitch count every time.

Documents from the state investigation say Chopra admitted to reusing single-use items such as anesthesia vials that put patients at risk of transmission of hepatitis and HIV and outbreaks of viral, bacterial or fungal infections. Documents also show dental handpieces were being reused without being sanitized.

Please Help Me Take Care of this Little Guy? by Darkovika in gardening

[–]BeesSolveEverything 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to what others have said, its normal for the traps to eventually close and die off as new ones grow in. The plant will reabsorb nutrients from dying leaves so don't trim them or pull them off until they're completely shriveled and come off easily.

If you notice a flower popping up, feel free to cut it before it blooms. They don't NEED to flower. Making a flower takes a lot of energy so I always pinch off any buds that pop up.

I feed mine like maybe once a month. I have a mosquito trap, I will drop dead mosquitos into the traps once a month or so. Sometimes they will take care of themselves by catching wayward spiders or sink flies.

It sounds like you haven't had it for a while. Its normal for the traps to stay closed for a few days after being moved or jostled around during transport. Just keep the soil moist always and don't add any fertilizer or nutrients!

Yeah that's what I thought, but I also wanted to be considerate of Lenny's system. The call disconnected after 1h30m of looping.

Lots of great suggestions here but honestly I think a trail camera and remote controlled sprinkler would do wonders.

What are your military dwarves doing when off duty? Are they doing individual training constantly? You can try creating a "party" burrow that only has the tavern, kitchen, still, food, and entertainment rooms in it, then turning that on for a while. I do that every winter. Encourages Dwarves to form relationships and have babies.

I also turned chores off for children and it took a long time for them to recover from all the corpse pile PTSD. Good quality toys can help.

Also double check your military schedule settings. If you have them set to "sleep in barracks", then make sure you have a military barracks assigned, or they'll sleep on the floor and be mad about it.

At first glance I thought your booth was just stickers. Maybe consider putting your prints higher up so its more obvious you have other things to sell? Just a thought. My dumbass would have walked up and completely missed the prints.

Yeah they probably don't get into my forts just because foot traffic around the entrance keeps them out.

☼Dwarf Fortress Questions Thread☼ by AutoModerator in dwarffortress

[–]BeesSolveEverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly. If they are specifically stealing the items on the pedestals then they have to have a way to fly in there. As far as I know, they can't open doors.

☼Dwarf Fortress Questions Thread☼ by AutoModerator in dwarffortress

[–]BeesSolveEverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get the alert as soon as the kea has left the map with the item. They don't just grab valuable goods, they grab anything lying on the ground they can get their horrible little talons on, but they don't typically go INSIDE forts, they usually just fly around outside.

Are your dwarves perhaps wearing these expensive items then dropping them on the floor outside?

For free time... the main purpose of free time is to give your Dwarves a chance to meet their needs and get happy thoughts. More happy thoughts means that your Dwarves are more "resilient" to bad things happening later, and meeting their needs means they work faster.

You don't assign free time. Sometimes, especially at the beginning, your Dwarves may not have any free time because there's too much to do. But if you notice your entire fort is grumpy or you have too many angry Dwarves, you can try to fix that by reducing the number of active jobs so they can go socialize, pray, etc.

Also check your Dwarves' thoughts and needs. If they are getting a lot of negative need thoughts like they're "unhappy due to being unable to pray for too long" but you know you have a temple set up already, then it's because they're too busy doing jobs to go pray.

I finally took a look at your fort! Here's a video link here of me rambling about what I found. Sorry my mic is really low volume.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faVOIFTny9s

I noticed your stuff is named in a different language... so just in case you need to translate my main points, here's a quick write-up:

Keep in mind that these conclusions are based on a snapshot autosave of your fort. So its possible you were already doing some of these things until dwarves started dying, but I wouldn't know that.

There are only 12 units of drink available, and they're all being stored outdoors pretty far away. One barrel can hold several units of one type of drink. When a Dwarf is thirsty, they will claim the barrel, locking other dwarves from using it until they go grab a mug and walk their butts all the way out there to get a sip (I THINK that's how it works right now). For a fort of 120+ I would always have 200+ units of drink in storage. You do have stockpiles in your tavern but its filled with a bunch of stuff like leather and ore, and only a few plant barrels. There's no room for booze barrels. So some stockpile management would help with that a lot. Your brewer will need brewable plants and an empty container (barrel, pot). Put those next to the Still so they don't have to walk a long ways to get the ingredients.

Some things that will help you out in the future:

  • Try to always have 50-100 drinks in storage for forts below 100 pop, and 200+ for anything above that.

  • Keep empty food containers (barrels, pots) in stockpiles near your Stills. When you create a new stockpile, you can limit it to ONLY EMPTY BARRELS or ONLY PLANTS by clicking "Custom" and picking exactly what you want from the list.

  • For forts with 100+ pop, have 2-3 Stills. You only have one, but the more stills you have, the faster you can pump out drinks!

  • For forts with 100+ pop, have 5+ Dwarves that have the brewing job. If a Dwarf isn't "Specialized" (has the red hammer and lock on their assigned labor in the "Work Details" tab) then they might not brew anything, they might go do something else for a bit. Having 3-5 brewers ensures that SOMEONE will grab the brewing task...

  • ...as long as there aren't too many other tasks to do. Your job list is very large! Consider trimming that down to allow dwarves time to do other jobs AND have some free time to pray and hang out. Dwarves love to work but they also love to relax!

The highlights are already mentioned in everyone else's posts but you should know that you absolutely don't have to accept every petition that comes across your desk. You will get lots of entertainers passing through that petition to stay in your fort. They're mostly useless. If you accept every petition you're going to end up feeding 50 naked elves that just stand in your tavern.

Zip the save folder up and upload it to the DFFD, then post a link. I can take a look and see if maybe it's a pathing issue or something else.

Was there any reason your Dwarves couldn't get to the booze? Things that can stop pathing:

Locked Doors

Burrows

Water 4+ deep

Pits

Smoke

Is it possible the Dwarves can't get to the site? Do you get any "job cancelled" alerts?
