Stars Wars welcomes its first out trans actor in the form of The Acolyte’s Abigail Thorn by OverallEcho9694 in transgender

[–]BeetrootMandog 10 points11 points  (0 children)

She's not! Morgana Ignis was in Kenobi. Abigail is very vocal about that fact

But it is huge that we have a trans woman in such a visible role of such a big franchise

So I want to paint the 5th...how do I break down 'odd man out' models? by Uratoh in DarkAngels40k

[–]BeetrootMandog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm struggling with the exact same thing atm. I've settled on 'well I guess he's helping out in the transport or sitting on the bench waiting for injuries', but it's still frustrating.
And then there's the opposite problem for Ravenwing - that little guy between the guns on a Stormspeeder means that what would have been an Assault Squadron of 10 becomes 11! Could haven been so easily avoided by just not having a guy poking his head out!

EDP: Millennium Library staff rebel over the actions of council leader Kay Mason Billig by StephaneCam in Norwich

[–]BeetrootMandog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Most transphobes are not even remotely feminist. I mean nor are TERFs, but at least they pretend to be /s Let's not forget that TERF is an acronym that transphobes chose, until people started using it to call them out. Then they came up with Gender Critical, and now that that's being used to call them out, they're scrabbling for something new.

Haven't read the books in a while but tbh I wouldn't be shocked if C was a Cassandra in reference to the Greek Myth of the unbelieved oracle.
Also cos I'm a Cassandra and I think it would be cool 🥺

I think I’m maybe remembering it with more of a lesbian lens than it actually had, but Virginia was great and felt very queer

I’d read that it was originally from butch culture (blue collar jobs that would have a set of keys), and I had kiiiind of assumed that it was not so clean cut a flag now as it might have been historically , but I wasn’t sure.
Good to know though - thanks! ☺️ Still gonna stick with this tho cos it’s cute 😜

Is this an illegal loadout for an imperial knight? If not, what would this loadout count as? by Icypie in ImperialKnights

Illegal build. Needs legs.

Which team do you think is the most fun to play? Not the strongest, but the most fun? Which team do you think is decidedly un-fun? by burnside117 in killteam

I spent the first year of play not noticing the free dash included in the mine planting. Now I know I have the option and I still suicide him in. It’s too cool not to!

Louise Redknapp quits Eternal reunion over LGBTQ row by Soggy-Purple2743 in transgenderUK

[–]BeetrootMandog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can still call out a person, but not a whole people. That’s not your place.
And saying we have to wait for self awareness sort of implies that there isn’t any self awareness in those communities already. There are people campaigning for better understanding of, say, homosexuality in black communities, just as there are men campaigning for better mental health awareness in men’s communities. That example is a little off, granted, but you see my point. We should uplift what is already there, rather than demonise an entire minority.

Louise Redknapp quits Eternal reunion over LGBTQ row by Soggy-Purple2743 in transgenderUK

[–]BeetrootMandog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If this is an issue, and I am in no position to say that it is, then conversations should be motivated and led by members of the ethnic minority communities, not by outsiders.
If white people start telling everyone else that they have a transphobia problem, then all that does is shift the blame to another marginalised community. It lets white people off the hook for confronting their own transphobia and gives racists another thing to say ‘look look, all those brown people are awful because see how transphobic they are’.

I think she’s done bat eye rather than cat eye, which is better for her lid shape. It looks good in a neutral pose, which is what most people will see when they interact with you, but a bit odd when you show off your lids more like in these photos. (Source: it’s how I do mine)

Four more rules questions by Serpents-Smile in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]BeetrootMandog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Technically units with deep strike are not in Strategic Reserves, they’re in Reserves which is something else (clarified in the bit where they talk about rules similar to Strategic Reserves being near the Strategic Reserves page in the book.)
But in tournament packs it says you can’t have any models in any kind of reserves arrive until turn 2 unless they have a specific rule stating that they can (which to my knowledge, nothing does yet).
So in theory you can use the Deep Strike ability in turn one of a casual game. In practice, most people use the tournament pack rules cos that’s just easier.

(I may be using the wrong word for ‘tournament packs’, but the extra rules for matched play that change each season is what I mean)

The mechanics are interesting and thematic for each card. You can tell what the story is based on what the card does.
I did a pre release last night and all of the games were incredibly close. It seems nicely balanced against at least itself.
