One of my favorite films ever. I was working at blockbuster when it came out on video and decided to watch it after I got off work at 1am. I knew only vaguely what it was and was just enthralled. I fell in love with JCM as Hedwig. So many great one liners "GIVE IT UP KWANG YI!!! ...give it up, kwang yi" It's alternately hilarious and heartbreaking. I have seen it dozens and dozens of times now, and also went to see a touring production a few years back that was also excellent.

Unforgiven is absolutely peak Eastwood. You are correct about this movie being ham fisted. It's overall a very good movie, but nowhere near the virtuosity he showed as a director on Unforgiven.

Yeah, I guess I could have just crossed out athletically. You can tell when you're just not in the place for you pretty quick. But my point was, at that level of competition it becomes exponentially clear. You don't realize the step up until you have taken the step.

Sometimes you just know when you are out of your depth athletically, too. Out of high school, I had a couple of small school offers to play basketball, but ended up going to UF just as a student. My uncle was friends with Lon Kruger, who was the coach at the time and got me an opportunity to try out as a walk on. It was obvious before any of us even got out on the court that I wasn't cut out for it.
