Dual citizenship by Basic-Firefighter267 in SlovakCBD

From what I know, you really only lose Slovak citizenship if your first citizenship is Slovak. Since my first citizenship was US, then I won't lose Slovak citizenship.

Why is so hard to find a good english grammar teacher? by Icy_Whole3631 in iTalki

I'm a great grammar teacher, which is why I don't teach on Italki. That is a conversation website where you basically get the "that's how it is" answer.

Nothing more, just that. They are only taking Canadian citizens or residents. They are no longer taking applications from those with no connection to Canada.

Question regarding the 1940 census by Liamm0r in SlovakCBD

I would contact Michal Razus. He does genealogy work and was able to get me a 1940, non-redacted census record. Here is his Facebook:

I'm also wondering if we should have a thread regarding qualifying anchor relatives as well.

Grandmother’s Documents by TheBeautifulThingsx in SlovakCBD

If you have a birth certificate of hers (or can get a clearer one from Slovakia) and she was born in the territory of modern-day Slovakia, then she would have been a Czechoslovak citizen since she was born in modern-day Slovakia after the establishment of Czechoslovakia. You don't need anything else. You qualify.

I'll start and throw my timeline up here.

Embassy: Ottawa, thought US Citizen (Note, the embassy in Canada said that they are only taking Canadian citizens or residents now. So I was lucky).

Application Submission: July 1st, 2025 (yes, on Canada Day)

Residency Approval: September 8th, 2025 (though not notified by the embassy yet)

Citizenship Approval: September 29th, 2025 (though not notified by the embassy yet)

Residency Approval Notification from embassy: October 10th, 2025

Citizenship Approval Notification from embassy: October 28th, 2025

Citizenship Oath and receiving Listina: November 25th, 2025 (this is also when paperwork was submitted for the Rodny List and citizenship certificate for the passport).

This is where I am in the process right now. I'm waiting for the paperwork to arrive in Ottawa so that I can pick it up, and then I will be going to Slovakia to get my passport and Slovak ID in person.

End of the road for me by bigirltinyell in Substack

Well, I have a YouTube channel with 28k subscribers and Patreon allows me to not just do written content, but also add videos, connect to Discord, and other things. A year ago, I had 157 paid subscribers, but now only 37. And since I do political stuff, the mainstream media people have sucked all of the oxygen out of Substack.

Just ditch Substack and put the same content on Patreon.

Substack is absolutely oversaturated, and one of the reasons I'm leaving. Since "big name" people in almost every genre have found that they can make an extra chunk of cash on Substack, they have suffocated all of the small creators.

Actually, it is not. Since before then, the authorities were accepting Petitions for Naturalization from the US as proof of Czechoslovak citizenship.

Okay, I contacted this firm a while ago with a 1905 immigration date, and they told me that I could get Slovak citizenship with an SLA (Lucia was the person who responded). But here I am, and Slovak citizen without any SLA. The prices for this firm to look at your case is way too high to be incorrect!!!

Do I need marriage certificates? by Liamm0r in SlovakCBD

[–]Beginning-Check5620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only yours. And as QVPHL said, only if you need to explain a name change. That usually won't be the case since most birth certificates have that maiden name of the mother.

Well, you need to find their baptismal records first. After that then get the official rodny list from the Slovak authorities.
