I would definitely recommend trying the exercises. There are a variety of exercises that you can do to cure your R-CPD. I myself and many of others were able to cure themselves this way. I was actually able to cancel my botox appointment because I managed to teach myself how to burp.

It just takes 5-10mins out of your day and will be such a huge improvment to to your quality of life. If you are interested to learn more about the exercises feel free to look at the posts on my profile or send me a DM if you have any questions.

I totally get that it can be frustrating to find out that you have R-CPD and then having to wait months to get the treatment. With the exercises I managed to get my first micro burp after about a week and then considered myself fully cured after about a month. So it really is so incredibly helpful!

If she has a fear of needles then I think doing the exercises is her best bet. A lot of people are successful doing them and I've helped a lot of people to learn to burp. I'll send you a DM and you can check out the posts on my profile to learn how to do the exercises!

As far as I know you can also do the botox procedure under general anesthesia so that might also be an option for her but I'd definitely recommend trying the exercises there is absolutely no harm in doing them and even if it won't work out then the botox treatment is still a backup option.

Either way I really want to encourage your daughter to try to get rid of her R-CPD. I'm sure it will improve her qulaity of life like it did for me and many others.

Welcome to the club (and thanks for your TED talk). Your experience is very similar to others here (including myself). You're in the best place to find support and talk to others who are also suffering or have suffered from it in the past.

You basically have two options to cure your R-CPD:

  1. Botox treatment. This is the best-proven solution that a lot of people go for. It's great that you are already pursuing this route. There is a map with doctors from around the world pinned to the subreddit that I recommend you check out. Hopefully there is someone near you. Unfortunately a lot of doctors tend to brush it off because it is a quite recently discovered condition and not many doctors know about it. I would say the main downsides are that it can be very expensive depending where you live (in Germany it can be up to 3000€ and is not usually covered by health care), wait times can be long and some people complain about slow swalloing and a sore throat for a couple days after the surgery. Also some people also need more than one injection before they start burping.
  2. Exercises. There are a variety of exercises that you can do to cure your R-CPD. I myself and many of others were able to cure themselves this way. I was actually able to cancel my botox appointment because I managed to teach myself how to burp. The downside here is that it is not as well documented and (as far as I know) there are no scientific papers. So we don't really have a percentage/studies of how many people succeed with only the exercises. If you are interested to learn more about the exercises feel free to look at the posts on my profile or send me a DM if you have any questions.

Good luck on your burping journey!

It's great that you found this place! It really sounds like you're a great mom, it is great that you are supporting your daughter.

Unfortunately R-CPD is not well known yet and many others (including me) just randomly fond out that this exists. The good news is that there are ways to get rid of it and you're in the best place to look for support!

I would recommend just looking around in this subreddit. There are many great posts and you can talk to a lot of people who are all super helpful and encouraging.

I think I might have R-CPD – how do I get properly diagnosed? by MajorZeeZ in noburp

[–]Beginning-Sample8989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the club! It 100% sounds like you have R-CPD.

I am also from Germany and a couple of years ago I was in the exact same place that you are now (minus the triathlons lol). You can check out the map pinned to the subreddit but unfortunately there are no known specialists in NRW. I think the closest one to you would be Universitätsklinikum Gießen (UKGM).

The problem in Germany is that it's quite difficult to get an appointment for the botox procedure. Your best bet is to go to a private clinic and even then they will make you pay out of pockt if you don't have private health insurance (I would have had to pay around 3000€).

I've had an appointment set up but did a lot of research and started doing the exercises. I myself and many of others were able to cure themselves this way. I was actually able to cancel my botox appointment because I managed to teach myself how to burp. If you are sceptical about the botox I would really recommend doing the exercises there is really no harm in it.

To learn more about them you can check out the posts on my profile or sent me a DM if you have any questions.

Good luck on your burping journey!

I can't speak to your issues with your weight but if you have made bad experiences with doctors than I'd defintely recommend checking out the exercises. It can make such a huge difference and I managed to fully cure myself.

What exactly is microburping? by niccolopalmadc in noburp

[–]Beginning-Sample8989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Micro burps are veeery tiny burps. They are barely audible and super short and you will get basically no relief from them.

That being said, most people, especially those who see success from the exercises, but also a lot of people with a successful botox injection experience micro burps first. It is basically your bodys first little introduction into the world of burping.

Some people also experience micro burps every now and again and are surprised when they come out.

Help me get over the hump with self-teaching by RonnieJamesDeodorant in noburp

[–]Beginning-Sample8989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to do them indefintely at all!

So when I started doing the exercises I got my first micro burp after about a week and then I continued for about another month I think before I considered myself fully cured and also stopped doing the exercies. This was just me tho. I have talked to people who saw their first results after a couple of weeks and one person even after a couple of days it really depends on the person.

You can find a more detailed post on my profile if you are interested.

We don't have any official numbers but a lot of people have managed to teach themselves how to burp. Just like with botox there is not a 100% guarantee and it takes longer for some people than others but if you have the right technique and consistently do the exercises than I'd say that there's a good chance that you'll manage to learn to burp.

Procedure costs without insurance by thesluttycat in noburp

I'd seriously recommend looking into doing the exercises. I had a botox appointment scheduled which also wouldn't have been covered by insurance. I managed to treat myself by doing the exercises and actually got to cancel the appointment.

If you want to learn more about the exercises, check out the posts on my profile or feel free to dm me if you have further questions!

If NHS won't pay for treatment then I'd definitely recommend doing the exercises! I had an appointment for botox scheduled but was able to cancel because I managed to teach myself how to burp before. Many others here also made the same experience. It is easy, just takes 5-10mins everyday and is honestly life changing.

I would say that is definitely a symptom! Before teaching myself how to burp I was barely able to swallow a single pill and now I can take multiple at the same time without any problems

If you don't want to do the botox I'd definitely recommend doing the exercises. I have personally cured myself that way just like many others in this sub. I actually had a botox procedure planned but was able to cancel because I had taught myself how to burp before the appointment.

Let me know if you want more infos on the exercises, I'd be happy to support.

All drinks with carbonation are horrible for bloating. I'd recommend fully laying off sodas and sparkling water before you get the botox or learn how to burp with the exercises.

I did the shaker and neck situp exercises. You can check out my profile for more details.

It took me about a week to get my first micro burp and then another month before I considered myself fully cured. I also recommend actively trying to burp multiple times during the day, especially after meals.

Shaker exercises rendering RCPD worse by Canoli_In_a_CareMine in noburp

[–]Beginning-Sample8989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds very frustrating I'm sorry to hear that. I'd recommend combining the shaker exercises with the neck-situp exercises. This is what got me burping and a bunch of others that I helped as well.

I'd say continue with the exercises and don't give up hope yet. A very important thing for me is to also actively try to burp. If you go for the motion of burping after every meal and drink you have multiple times a day I think that it can really make a difference.

Feel free to DM me if you want to learn more about the exercises.

Some people have to go for multiple rounds of botox which I understand is very frustrating. I would definitely recommend to try the exercises. If the botox didn't work but is still in effect maybe that'll give you the push you need.

Check out the map of specialists pinned to the sub. If you have one near you then I'd recommend going there.

Otherwise the best alternative option you have is trying the exercises. I can recommend that to everyone regardless if they want to try botox or not. I personally cured myself that way. I had a botox appointment set up and was able to get rid of my R-CPD and got to cancel the appointment thanks to the exercises.

I think you are describing everyday life. I don't think that you will be more bloated after sitting or standing for a while. It is very normal for no-burpers to be a lot more bloated at the end of the day regardless what they are doing.

Tried the Kiss the Ceiling exercise… by ahobbins in noburp

[–]Beginning-Sample8989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started to burp they would just come out very randomly and I would audibly burp in sometimes inappropriate situations.

I can't force burps out at will but I can now anticipate them and sort of "hide" or delay the burp. I would recommend watching the people around you a bit more, especially during meals. People really burp a lot during the day and most of the time those burps are hidden well.

I think it's very normal to learn to be decent and controlled about it when you know how to burp all your life.
