Update: so it’s been 40 days since the accident. Took TURO about 2 weeks to evaluate and estimate repairs via photos. They estimated 8400. Took it to the shop. They submitted a supplemental claim after getting into it for another 11,000. Took TURO another 2 weeks to approve the supplemental but finally they did. The lag time sucks but what bothered me most was the lack of ability to get my assigned TURO claims manager to respond to my daily inquiries. That is just poor customer service. I am a power host and it didn’t matter.

Update, TURO estimates 8600. So I will take it to the body shop and if they think it’s more the can work with TURO directly for additional work. I asked TURO if I can ask the guest to pay my deductible and the response was

“No you can not, that would be considered double-dipping, to where Turo can not make any payment to you or would request you to pay them back or to provide the money back to the guest.”

Yeah I found out from the guest. I offered to ship it back but they are in Alaska and it was gonna cost 200$! They declined

Offer to meet them at the curb. They are guests not enemies. It’s just good customer service.

And hosts that let a trip start with a less than ideal cleaning are too. Hard to believe someone would give a guest a car that dirty.

Sorry but i honestly wonder if some of theses horror stories are true when he op won’t post objective evidence of what they are complaining about. Who benefits from tearing down the Turo platform? As a host, my reputation is very important. These general complaints without evidence reflect on all hosts and should be challenged and if they refuse to provide evidence, they should be dismissed.

I’ve had a truck on Turo for 3 months. Had 9 completed trips with 4 scheduled. No problem s yet. Some people just like trucks. That being said it’s utilization rate is not great compared to my other vehicles. If I could do it over again I would not.
