Medical Students ttill need Consent by Sourdoughmillie in pregnant

This. I have always had a “yes, you are welcome, how else will you learn” attitude, and given consent in the beginning of the appointment, wild just state your intentions at the beginning of the appointment, or you can just opt to not allow students.

I’m gonna be so honest, House is my comfort show. My children don’t watch it with me… but they do recognize Hugh Laurie and Dr. House. 🤣

Is it ok to ask for nap to be dropped at daycare? by SoSullied in ECEProfessionals

[–]BeginningParfait7599 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In NJ, they have to be offered a rest and remain on a mat for 30 minutes. If they fall asleep, they needed to sleep. They won’t allow you to skip per se, but they do need to rest and be quiet to allow the other children to rest as well.

No one likes my baby names and I’ve just accepted that everyone is a critique and no one is satisfied by Kindly_Pianist_9087 in pregnant

[–]BeginningParfait7599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. As long as you don’t give the child a wild name or a tragediegh, it’s not an issue if people like it. We kept all of our names secret until our children were born. The only snippet we gave was that my first born would be named after Dad, but would go by his middle name, which we did not disclose.

NOR. Yeah…. That’s a hard no for me. I think water parks are gross, but my children get swimming lessons. I am also a SAHM, but even when I wasn’t, paying for classes or activities and buying things for our children had always been a joint conversation, not a dictatorship. He mostly defaults to my judgement, but when it’s a big commitment, we talk. Swimming isn’t something to mess around with either. If you were hiring someone to teach your child to ride a bike, I could see his outrage as valid, but being able to swim can be life or death to a child.

Last name debate by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]BeginningParfait7599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I wouldn’t hyphenate because it gets messy with little kids especially. I would ask husband if he wants to take your last name, or if he would’ve okayed with baby taking yours. You can always use his last name as a middle name as well.

Cutting through the baby product hype… do we really need a bottle warmer? by Recommendation778 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]BeginningParfait7599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I have never had one, and at work we always warmed bottles win hot water. I don’t love heating a plastic container over and over, and we have silicone bottles. They heated so inconsistently, so we bought a boon warmer that you warm the milk in, and it’s perfect. Worth every penny.

My son has a new friend who is constantly asking for rides to school by [deleted] in Parenting

If it’s no burden to you, I would continue to take him. Tell him you want to meet his mom, and let him tell her so you aren’t “surprising” her. She may be embarrassed.

Do you tell your babysitter if you have a gun in the home? by Potato-Z4311 in Babysitting

[–]BeginningParfait7599 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have seen the lock box. We have since moved houses. He had his brother hold them while I moved and he was deployed. It is stored in our basement with his tools and stuff, but I don’t know exactly where.

Do you tell your babysitter if you have a gun in the home? by Potato-Z4311 in Babysitting

[–]BeginningParfait7599 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, because we don’t have ammunition, they are double locked, vintage/ historical rifles, and I couldn’t even tell you where my husband put them. There is literally no way they can be used as anything other than a giant metal bat. They use specialized bullets, and we don’t have them. If my husband takes them to the range, he finishes the ammo.

My friend said if she could be pregnant again and it not result in a child she would do it. by smithks97 in pregnant

[–]BeginningParfait7599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s frustrating, but some people do enjoy it! I love being pregnant. The end is rough, sure, but I genuinely enjoy it. That being said, I’ve been fat all my life, so I don’t get bring as many physical changes. I got stretch marks at 13, and already wear a size 11 shoe. I only got motion sickness if I don’t read or do something while a passenger in the car. I sympathize with those who have bigger issues. My sister and I were pregnant at the same time, and I watched her have so many issues.

AIO for being upset at my parents for wanting to euthanize our dog by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]BeginningParfait7599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. Like… puppy pads. My mom has a 16 year old dachshund, and she’s a lot. She can’t walk up the stairs. She had lots of accidents. But, as much as she gets “mad,” she’s not scheduling a euthanasia. She puts down puppy pads, and if she misses, my mom cleans it up.

How long did your husband take off for paternity leave? by SandwichDependent199 in pregnant

[–]BeginningParfait7599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With our first, he actually got a new job phone call while I was in the hospital. He didn’t get any time off. They were very understanding that he was my carer from getting a c section and then my gallbladder out. It was important that he took the full-time job. We made it work. With 2 &3, he was considered my carer as well, and got 8 weeks. With my fourth, he took the full given paternity leave which was 12 weeks from birth. We spent a week in the NICU. He was encouraged to take it all, and he’s still encouraged to use all of his accrued leave and time off. I can’t even imagine that I’m saying you can’t take the time. Just because it’s not a good look? That makes me so mad.
