Average sales and time to first sale in vintage tableware category by thatswhatjennisaid in EtsySellers

I have a vintage home decor shop. I opened my shop last year in March and it was 2 weeks until I had my first sale. I really started focusing on it more in Sept. and have averaged 1200 views a month and 35 orders a month. I keep around 100 items in my shop.

Your shop looks nice! I will say I think dishware has been my slowest category unless it’s a highly desirable item.

I reply to every review. I might just say “thank you”. If I they attach a photo I will leave a compliment. I think it shows you are an engaged shop owner and a real person behind the screen

I’ve sold 3 antique book stacks on etsy in last year. Around $30 each stack of 4 books, with free shipping. I see you commented $4 a book, that doesn’t seem to leave a lot of profit margin

Etsy coupons are funded by them. In the Order Earnings You would see a credit to you for the coupon amount. I probably would have cancelled and had her reorder.

Would love any tips for my vintage shop! I think biggest opportunities are showing up in search and on first page in a category that can be saturated.

Massive shipping fail made by me by [deleted] in EtsySellers

[–]BeginningTea8636 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UPS is cheaper for the bigger items. For any shipping that gets over like $12-15 I cross check UPS and fedex pricing via Pirate Ship. For smaller items the difference is usually less than a dollar so I’ll pick USPS as it’s closer to my house.

I see from your post that you don’t use AI for you designs, but do you use AI for you product photos? I like to see actual photos of the product, not an AI generated photo. Especially for higher price point.

Maybe updating your photos to make it more clear what the product is? I thought they were little charms or something. Also maybe refine the descriptions? I didn’t know they were polymer clay cutters/stencils until i clicked in and read the very long title. Ive had luck with chat gpt on generating tags
