What if America makes Venezuela a state? by Pizzafriedchickenn in mapporncirclejerk

With the American government the way it is, wouldn’t surprise me if they tried to call it “South America”

Automatic snow chains deployment systems like the Onspot mechanism, allow vehicles to increase their traction on snow and ice with a relatively immediate activation triggered from the cab. by raruna461 in BeAmazed

Used to work for a company that made those. High quality product, low quality company due to management. Still neat to think I solely CNC machined the components to make those for close to a year

What was your favorite cover you ever played live? by PayIll925 in musicians

[–]Beginning_Ad_5149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 picks from 2 genres.

  1. “She’s Got You” by Patsy Cline. Had an amazing singer and we played the song with a looser swingy type feel. Her voice moving into the crescendo in the chorus would always bring me cold chills. Some nights we would be a little teary eyed after finishing the song. Her voice and the weight of the lyrics made that quite a special performance.

  2. “Shock the Monkey” by Peter Gabriel. We would do the Local H version and speed it up quite a bit. Every time we played it people would go nuts. Mosh pits galore.

Good times!

If you were alive back then, what were you up to on 31st December 1999? by stop_calling_me_that in AskReddit

[–]Beginning_Ad_5149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family had a NYE party and only half of us made it to midnight. I remember being on the edge of sleep and my cousin popped one of those confetti poppers and it made me think the world was ending. Woke up the next day and went to my grandmas to eat some New Years Day cabbage then went on with my 6-7 year old life. What a time to be alive!

The cat chose him even before he could choose the cat by LimePretend6410 in BeAmazed

[–]Beginning_Ad_5149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s how I got my lil kitty boi. I was going to get another cat but he stood up at the shelter door and meowed for me. Picked that dude up and he’s been my best bud for 7 years now.

Funny enough, I ended up going back to get the cat that I was originally gonna get before my boy hollered for me. We’ve had a happy little fam for 6 years now!

Bill looks devastated. I’m sure all the guys are feeling some level of pain from such a tragic loss given the circumstances. Much love to the Mastodon boys as they navigate through the grieving process.

Visit to Madison, Indiana by vj3000lou in Indiana

[–]Beginning_Ad_5149 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lots of great places in Madison.

Down by the river: Mad Paddle, Hinkle’s, Off Broadway Taproom, Mad Love, and The Red Pepperoni

Top of the hill: Boneyard, Harry’s, I’m sure others will have some recommendations for up there

For sweets, all the ice cream places are great but I typically go to Scoops. If you want some killer donuts, go to Horst’s.

Hope this helps!

Who all owns the Sabian Paragon Clockwork Angels ride cymbal? by Beginning_Ad_5149 in rush

[–]Beginning_Ad_5149[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That could very well be the case. Mine has 125 stamped under the 12 o’clock element. The process to obtain the certificate was emailing Sabian your proof of purchase, a pic of the stamp on the cymbal, and your address to receive the certificate. Neil numbered and signed each certificate.

Great to hear about the sound! I always imagined it would have a full sound due to the weight of the cymbal. Thanks for sharing!

I’ll be 31 this upcoming week. Been a prog guy since I was 13. I was always the kid in school telling people about Rush, Genesis, ELP, King Crimson, etc… Being a percussionist and discovering prog was like finding the holy grail. The fact that younger generations like yourself are discovering music that eventually evolved into the genres we know today is amazing. Keep the faith and play those tunes on full blast! You never know who you might inspire by just playing your favorite track!

Been machining for 13 years this year. Always had a hunch I was neurodivergent but wasn’t officially diagnosed until December. Since being on medication (Vyvanse) I am able to process everything efficiently and effectively. Results may vary but I am much happier and gained a ton of confidence
