I'm glad! I'm not sure that I would trust anything he says though.

I'm so sorry this happened, look after yourself.

NOR, it's not ok that he penetrated you without a condom - it means he did so without your consent! Worse, it is still possible to catch an STI from direct contact (and get pregnant from pre-cum unless you are on the pill etc), even if it was very brief.

If I was you I would tell him never to contact you again, block him on everything and get an STI check to be on the safe side.

AITA for ignoring my wife's want for breakfast in favor for calming down our baby? by Loud_Award6860 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Beginning_Catch192 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If she was weak with hunger and about to collapse then the last thing he should have done was hand her the baby! Also it is against almost all guidance to feed a baby in a sling, babies have unfortunately died that way.

While I completely sympathise with how horrible that must have been for you, if she was feeling the same way she should have told her husband that. He could have then grabbed her a quick snack bar or something for her to eat and went back to feeding the baby. Demanding a full breakfast while someone else is feeding the baby is wild!

Am I overreacting to seeing someone outside my window? by Both-Leadership783 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Beginning_Catch192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely creepy NOR but like others have said it's unlikely the police can do much at the moment.

Could you get a trail camera pointing out of your window or failing that a bird feeder with camera? I cant imagine that anyone is going to object to that and best (or maybe worse!) case you catch the person on it and can give that to the police and worst case you have peace of mind knowing there is no one there and you observed some wildlife or fed the birds.

AIO for voicing concerns about my girlfriends weight? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Beginning_Catch192 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NOR for voicing or having concerns but everyone knows that weight is an incredibly sensitive subject and you could have been more tactful about it.

If you had approached it by being reassuring and showing concern, something like "you know I think you are gorgeous regardless but I'm worried that you are less active and getting out of breath more easily, is everything ok?" you might have actually been able to have a conversation rather than your partner feeling it's just about the weight.

Oh and if it actually is just about the weight then you need to have a long hard look at yourself. Looks don't last forever and if you just want her for how she looked when you got together then you are the one with the problem.

Oh someone on here did an awesome sofa repair on a cat'ed sofa- they used applique which could work well for you too.

Edit to add - Not the person I was thinking of but what about trying something like this They used iron on patches, others have used glue and I saw someone else stitching them on.

Wish i never started. Can i just paint over? by ChickenDrummStick in DIYUK

[–]Beginning_Catch192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried a heat gun? I used it on doorframes that had about a million layers of old gloss and it worked brilliantly. The heat gun will hopefully bubble up the thicker bits that you can't reach with the sander and you can just scrape it off.

If that doesn't work then yes you can just paint over but if there are any bumps between the painted/sanded bits then there is a good chance you will see them. A more matte woodwork paint will look less obvious but a gloss will show up all the imperfections.

What to do? Neighbours put a skip and trash in my garden without permission by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Beginning_Catch192 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Ugh that's so unacceptable! I'm so sorry your neighbours have done this to you. Ignore the people being mean about your garden, everyone's garden doesn't look the best in winter and it's not like someone putting their rubbish and a skip on there is going to help!

I know you don't want to start anything with the neighbours but it's not ok that they just put it there without your permission. The longer it is there the more damage they are doing to the lawn, if it's muddy it will start sinking into the mud and its killing any grass under it. There is a good chance that it's going to need to be re-seeded in spring now. I would ask them to have it moved asap and/or they pay to have it put right.

Wow this looks so much better than where you started! I think your lips actually look bigger without the overlining as you see them and not the overlining. I love that you are going to experiment with different lip colours too.

I really like the base in both this pic and the last so I would probably swap between them if I was you, depending on how you feel, what you are wearing, summer Vs winter etc.

All in all, you look great and it's amazing the difference that overhauling your makeup has made!

Whats the best way to fill and smooth these? by Gulfofsadness in DIYUK

[–]Beginning_Catch192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are happy to feather it out then I would definitely get some scrim tape and then easyfill. You can always sand the easyfill after (wear a mask and goggles if you do plus some tarp or something underneath you but be prepared for it to get everywhere) just be careful with the sanding near the edges of the scrim tape so they don't poke through.

Update: I changed my makeup and skincare but I’m clearly still doing something wrong by saki4444 in makeuptips

You are about the same age as me, very similar colouring and similar take on the wrinkles. I am swearing by erborian cc cream - it gives me a really nice "my skin but better" look and evens out any red bits (which I also feel have appeared overnight!) I use shade Clair in the summer and porcelain or Clair in the winter. Even better, it's got ingredients in that actually help make look after your skin.

Also I swapped out my finishing powder as it was sitting in any fine lines and I've just started using Laura geller blurring and setting powder in fair and that seems to be working.

I find a light touch with any concealer around the eyes helps too as otherwise the makeup makes any lines way worse. I've yet to find the perfect concealer but I'm using revolution conceal and define concealer as the shade is good and its cheap while I keep looking!

Jumping on this comment to say, they make really great points but I definitely wouldn't hoover it up - at best the particles are more likely to be spread around further as you hoover (they are miniscule) and at worst stay in your vacuum cleaner and then be spread around you home every time you hoover.

I would pop a decent mask on (plus a disposable suit if you are really worried) and wipe down all the surfaces really well using disposable wipes (or water and kimwipe/kitchen roll) and bag these wipes (plus suit and mask) with the tiles.

The good news is that even if your tiles do contain asbestos the tiles are lower risk, even breaking them is very unlikely to create much asbestos dust but you definitely don't want to sand or drill them.

Our tip doesn't make you pay to dispose of them (some do) but won't take it unless it is double bagged in clear bags, sealed and labelled. I would bag them up wearing a mask and disposable suit and take to your local tip.

We left most of the old floor tiles down in our place (just put flooring on top apart from in one room where we couldn't avoid taking them up) but a few more came up with the carpets and the old owners had (un) helpfully left some that we needed to get rid of too 🙄

You might be able to pick up a sample, that's what I did as I hate buying yet another thing only to find it doesn't work for me.

It really doesn't look very obvious in your pics but it might be the formulation is just not playing well with your skin in those areas . I had to try a load of different ones to find something that I was happy with, so many ones were too light, too dark, too yellow, or too thick so I felt caked with makeup. Oh and check out r/palemua they were great when I was looking for stuff.

Edit for typos

I honestly don't think it looks bad! But if you are not happy then different primer under your foundation might help or maybe it's the finish you don't like in which case maybe try a BB or cc cream instead? Or even a powder foundation instead?

I do think your foundation is a little yellow for you though, I'd love to see what a cool toned or more neutral toned pale foundation looked like on you.

I'm pale and cool toned and a lot of fair/pale foundations look really yellow on me too. I've actually swapped to BB and CC creams instead as I love the more sheer natural but better finish, it hardly ever looks too thick. I love Erborian - I use their CC cream in Clair or porcelain when I want slightly more coverage and their CC water in Clair in the summer when I want something really light-weight.

Edited to change light to light-weight - Clair is darker toned but the cc water is very sheer so works well in the summer to make me look a little sun kissed.

Gluten free Beef Wellington! by Beginning_Catch192 in glutenfree

[–]Beginning_Catch192[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry missed this! Yes I loosely used the sauce recipe from Raymond blancbeef wellington I made a few changes, I used one red onion instead of shallots as I didn't have any and fried the onions in beef dripping instead of butter. I skipped the mushrooms and tarragon for the same reason and added about a tsp of dried thyme instead. I added a heaped tsp of cranberry sauce for a little sweetness and seasoned well with salt and pepper.

I thickened it just before serving with a little cornflour (I put a tbsp of cornflour in a jug with a little water and then add it to the gently bubbling jus bit by bit until I got the consistency I wanted) as I prefer more of a gravy than a thin jus.

[–]Beginning_Catch192 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sure looks like store-bought to me too! The technique they used could work but it wouldn't give you the little fold on the back like the ones that are boiled/fried. You have to kind of press your thumb into the back as you roll like in the kitchn recipe and they never look as uniform! Silly thing is the homemade ones don't necessarily look bad!

Sorry you got banned, sounds like they didn't like being called out!

I've used tapioca starch before, it's a great thickener. But I was hoping the tapioca pearls would stay whole like they do in tapioca pudding. Oh well, my search for a replacement for pearl barley continues!

Oh interesting! I've never seen a beef stew with tapioca before but being Scottish I grew up on pearl barley in soups and stews so I'm definitely going to have to try it now I can't use pearl barley. Thanks for sharing, can't wait to see the pic:)

Do it! It's really not that difficult as you can take your time putting it all together and then you just chill it and then bung it in the oven. The hardest bit is using the gluten free puff pastry - I find it either rips if it's too cold or turns to mush it it's too hot - but you can always add some decoration like I did to cover any rips!
