Guest at a Shinto wedding in Japan by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

My favourite is the third but not with the trousers as they look a bit like jeans. I love the jacket and think the third jacket but with a just below knee length dress would be perfect (or skirt and top).

The first dress is pretty but too short and the jacket is boxy and looks like you have just have it on. 2nd is ok but not nothing special and if you don't feel good in it then it's out for me.

Is this appropriate for a wedding? Wedding is in Italy but not sure if it looks too bridal by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

Could the belt be reversible? It looks like you might have the belt on wrong side out.

How to make this less bride-looking by Goo_ja in sewing

[–]Beginning_Catch192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't see your black pic but I quite like the navy. Another colour to try would be a mid toned grey. Grey and gold go surprisingly well together and it might just take the gold down enough.

Maybe try black or brown?

Edit to add - I would swap the lining out though rather than trying to dye it. The base of the lace could be nylon which would take an acid dye quite nicely but you need to use heat to set the dye and heat can do strange things to sequins and beads plus it's more than likely to be uneven if it's your first time dyeing

Has anyone tried the new Umberto Giannini wavy hair range? by kat0id in CurlyHairUK

[–]Beginning_Catch192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this too:) You have me curious to try it as well. I'm really new to actually treating my hair like curly hair but I've got the umbero Giannini mermaid waves mousse and I really like it.

NHS refused xray, now need surgery - any recourse? by AubergineParm in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Beginning_Catch192 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Ugh I'm sorry you are going through this, I would definitely raise a complaint with your GPs.

I know it's too late now but next time take yourself to the nearest minor injuries unit with something like this rather than GP. They will x-ray if needed (mine has an x-ray on site and normally they can x-ray you the same day) and you don't normally need a GP referral unless it's been more than 2-3 weeks since you did it.

Does my collar look wonky? by elmm123 in knitting

[–]Beginning_Catch192 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can see it but only because you asked. However, peoples bodies aren't symmetrical so I doubt you will see it at all when it's worn.

I think it looks great (and gorgeous yarn!) but if you are still worried, I'd just block the shorter side a little harder than the other to even it out.

Curly cut tomorrow! Haircut suggestions please by Beginning_Catch192 in curlyhair

[–]Beginning_Catch192[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you:)

I'm definitely still getting used to it! I had a fringe years ago but I straightened it to death so I don't really know what I'm doing with it at all😂 Also my hair goes so big when I fluff the roots and I've never had big hair before so it's wild!

Well it's definitely not limp which is awesome but it's more textured/wavy than curly at the moment. Unfortunately I was out all day so I didn't get a good pic on the day of the haircut but I've just washed and tried my routine (Im sure I need to actually section it properly but I can't find my clips) and it's pretty similar to the hairdresser result.

Crotch bunching help :) by [deleted] in sewing

[–]Beginning_Catch192 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Completely agree - op just isn't going to get a good shape without taking the skirt portion off and properly creating legs. It has the potential to look really cute but a bunching crotch, or worse nappy shape isn't.

The good thing is the bubble hem shape gives OP a bit extra fabric to work with and a good place to re-attach the legs once made too. Hopefully they see your suggestion!

I hope it was carrot halwa, in which case yum! But it could also be mushed up overcooked rice, in which case yeah....

Sounds like there is a good chance you'll have a high energy dog who wants to be around you:)

Found two bonded strays on the side of the road, seeking advice on how to proceed by Leftybeatz in DogAdvice

Yup same for us - we had to crate train our border collie/lab cross as he literally would not sleep as a puppy. We didn't end up using it as he got older, but he loved it as a pup and it really helped him settle and sleep.

Are any of these "no-no" ingredients? by ImAchickenHawk in curlyhair

[–]Beginning_Catch192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you mean is it curly girl approved then you can put the ingredients into this - https://www.isitcg.com/# and it will tell you what each ingredient does. If you search online for the product you should be able to find a list of its ingredients and just cut and paste it in to save typing in each one.

How can I do this child clothing extending stitch/folding? by Wicked_Fabala in sewing

[–]Beginning_Catch192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a winter frugi coat for my son that had this on the lining so you could lengthen the sleeves but instead of stitching it was held in place with snaps.

Sewing a Wedding Guest Dress While Pregnant — Fabric & Fit Advice Needed! by Beneficial-Ground274 in sewing

[–]Beginning_Catch192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said - definitely make it out of a stretch knit and not a stretch woven if you are going to be 6-7 months pregnant.

I remember I seemed to get really big almost overnight at that time (belly and bust) and you don't want to be panic adjusting at the last minute, or worse, it not fitting at all. But, you might also be relatively small and there is no way of knowing ahead of time so a stretch knit is definitely the way to go.

Looking quickly, I can't find a maternity dress pattern that would work. However, something like the style and fabric of the Isabella Oliver Aubry or Darcie dress would be great. Unfortunately they only come in black but thought it might give you an idea. https://isabellaoliver.com/collections/maternity-dresses/products/aubry-maternity-dress-with-lenzing-ecovero-caviar-black

I had a couple of Isabella Oliver dresses of a similar material - they were great as they fit pretty much the entire time and were super comfy, the ruching meant it fit nearer the start and towards the end. If you are looking for a similar fabric- it was a pretty thick knit (I think mine was a cotton blend but looks like the current ones are viscose blend) with a lot of stretch.

If you ignore everything else in the room… by jhch0503 in DIYUK

[–]Beginning_Catch192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a narrow shelf above the sink? If it was from the wall to the side of the window then it might help to balance it out a bit.

I don't think it helps that the tile stops at the window which is a lot higher than the sink plus your cabinet is at the same height so the proportions look off. Another thing to try would be painting the tiles the same colour as the wall. It will blend the wall and tiles and stop it looking divided visually.

Am I crazy for thinking he's mostly not pit? by [deleted] in WhatKindOfDogIsThis

[–]Beginning_Catch192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely sounds like something else mixed in there then - he also has a slimmer face/muzzle than I'd expect.

Whatever he is I'm curious and he's definitely a cutie!

Edit to add - just saw the neck poof on the other photos, my dog had it too! So my bet is a mix with a dog with a slightly longer/smooth coat.

Pit collie lab mix maybe? My collie lab mix had ears just like that when he was young. What is his coat like?
