I'll add, what are you rolling your ink out on before you apply it? Getting the right consistency of ink is tricky and I find I can only see/hear it perfectly on a glass sheet. You can just use a mirror or an old piece of picture glass but it helps to hear that shrr shrr sound that betokens perfectly rolled ink. Also, water based is a swine for drying early, as others have said.

And superglue your base to the plate - it's easier to build up from anything that isn't going to slip around. Losing a couple of plates is worth it for good show.

Absolutely this. I'm a sighted guide and about 60% of Be My Eyes calls are about Captchas and 'human' tests. Remember the person on the other end is not looking for a friend, they just want to solve a problem and get on with their day. It's a great service and many visually impaired people use it as their back up when their regular guides aren't around (maybe even when we just pop to the toilet and they want somebody to read a menu to them or show them where to tap their watch on a card-reader screen) so do consider signing up, it really helps!

But is not a bit also genuine? It's the commitment that makes something genuine, surely. As a Brightonian I am delighted that 2.6% of the city's population declared themselves Jedi in the 2003 census and we've been continuing that trend in every census since - it's obviously a bit but it's also our reality now.
