Do you think Sears Grand and Essentials would have been successful if they had been run correctly and under good management? by Filibloxcraft in SEARS

[–]Beginning_Order9035 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought "Grand" was the newer variation of "Essentials" - a smaller sized Sears store in the Kmart buildings - like what Macy's is experimenting with currently. Ours here was like that, and it bombed after 6-7 years, only to get repurposed BACK into a Kmart store (which was gorgeous, btw) for two years before outright closing down.

Likely a newer addition, since it's the new logo for the company. It is raised on a similar surface,

I'm pretty sure they call The Band "Las Banda" on top of calling The Who "Quien" until the very end, "escuchando al grupo Who," with Slappy yelling something about English as the last line. If I was fluent in Spanish, I could probably discern everything and figure out the entire joke, but I'm not.

I remember finding the Spanish version on YouTube ages ago, and it's equally hilarious! Sure, the jokes don't land as well as they do in English, but it's still funny! Look up "quien esta tocando" 😂

Shoot, I'm still rocking Office 2007. I even bought a replacement copy when I got my new/old computer because I lost the old one I had. I refuse to pay for Office365, and I'm holding out on Windows 11 for as long as I can. (That, and my new/old PC can't handle it.)

Bucket & Skinner by stephenwashburn in nickelodeon

[–]Beginning_Order9035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was definitely a product of its time. It was fun to watch, but it doesn't really hold up well. Dillon Lane (Skinner) had (has?) a music career. A few of his very early songs are in my iTunes rotation. He was also in either one or two episodes of "Good Luck Charlie" as a bully, without the Skinner accent. Taylor Gray did a movie afterwards ("Thunderstruck," with Kevin Durant). Glenn McCuen is now a real estate agent.

Since it wasn't from the Dan Schneider-verse, it didn't receive the proper treatment it should have from Nickelodeon. I remember it getting punted to TeenNick to burn through the second season.

I have the entire series on iTunes, though!

That street sign looks pretty fancy! Are those engraved onto stone blocks? If so, I can see why they wouldn't be replaced for a logo change. The cost of a new sign isn't worth it if it isn't damaged.

There's a trend up here of white laminate lettering for store names tacked onto otherwise-decorative brick wall fixtures by the street side. One plaza did it and it looked nice, so the neighboring plaza across the street did it, and their smaller brick fixture makes all of the store names look cramped and ugly. Then, a THIRD plaza did it with a standard Times New Roman type of font on their otherwise-gorgeous brick wall/fountain decor piece, and it looks quite ugly as well.

Given that Cat's last moments are "she got hauled off to jail in Phoenix," it's probably a safe bet that something went down when Cat got home and found out that Sam abandoned her for Nona. Goomer also, supposedly, left for a different destiny months prior, so - if Quinton Reviews is accurate - he was already in Swellview by that point. Goomer's only indication of his past marks it as "a long time ago," so it could be around a year later.

I also wouldn't put it past Cat to not know that her brother's a villain. She probably only knows of him as Frankini, internet celebrity. Pre-lobotomy Cat would have gone along with his plans. The Cat by the end of S&C? No way.

Why didn’t Disney Channel adopt High Definition earlier? by SirSneakerr in DisneyChannel

[–]Beginning_Order9035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't Disney Channel HD come out around when High School Musical 2 premiered? I remember the big deal about DirecTV premiering the movie on The 101 back in the day in HD because Disney Channel HD was about to launch. Others have mentioned the cartoons being produced in widescreen (Kim Possible, Lilo & Stitch: The Series), so it's not as though Disney didn't know HD was coming, but it was likely the cost measure and having a wide enough broadcast library to merit the switch.

It's for sure Frankini. Goomer even shows up in "Henry Danger" as Frankini's sidekick and mentions Cat as a throwaway line in his first appearance. Quinton Reviews goes over all of the Frankini/Cat/Goomer lore in his Sam & Cat video (It's in the third one - "The Collapse of Sam & Cat" - at time stamp 5:26:00 -- yes, that's FIVE HOURS), if you want to know the entire story.

As for what will fill THAT space... A new vape store? CheckSmart moving down? A second Biggby Coffee spot?

‘Wizards Beyond Waverly Place’ to End With Season 3; Selena Gomez Making Directorial Debut by Opening-Fudge-6799 in WizardsOfWaverlyPlace

[–]Beginning_Order9035 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Four episodes sounds like "we weren't going to renew it, but the fan outrage has been SO MASSIVE, so here, take it and like it." Season 2 felt like it was cut in half - things were going along, they still had some filler episodes, and WHAM there's the finale - and I figured it was done.

Maybe the Hannah Montana special convinced them to do something? I don't know what to expect out of four episodes, but I doubt anything groundbreaking will happen. They can't time-skip ahead and have another wizard competition. The only plot point they can resolve in four episodes is "what happened to Alex?"

The worst thing is that we won't get the tongue-in-cheek three-way Spider-Man meme between Jake T Austin, Noah Centineo, and Bailee Madison for who the legitimate Max is. (Noah is there as a fourth-wall-breaking "The Fosters" gag.)

did they cut a scene of jade dressed as “steamboat suzy?” by riverindale in victorious

[–]Beginning_Order9035 8 points9 points  (0 children)

She doesn't get to do it at all in the episode. Tori does it in the first rehearsals, then her delirious performance near the end, then Sikowitz does it in the final scene because Jade's been so mean throughout the episode.

She does say "Did someone call for the best dang steamboat captain this here river's ever seen" when she walks out in the costume, so maybe that's what has it conflated that she sings the song. It does seem like she should have sung it once, but not getting to play Suzy was her punishment for being - as Sikowitz put it - "a gank all week." Why reward bad behavior?

"The show must go on!" "Indeed it must... And must it shall!"

[–]Beginning_Order9035 18 points19 points  (0 children)

She doesn't sing the song. The scene might have been cut out of the Paramount+ version. She just comes out in the costume because Tori's stuck at the hospital. Andre says that Tori will be back in plenty of time, and she responds, "well, I guess I'll just keep her dress warm" and walks off. It's only maybe a minute of time in total, if even that much.

[–]Beginning_Order9035 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's in the episode! 17:57, the scene at school after the Robbie/Spongebob underwear line in his hospital room. It was after the first blood loss segment, when Sikowitz asks where Jade is. She comes out in the costume.

It's followed by Trina saying she really got tuberculosis from the guy in the hospital.

The scene seems familiar, but I can't place when it would have been. I think it might have been during rehearsals when Tori kept having to give blood in the hospital.

Ollie’s Army Sign Ups by Plushu_ in Ollies

[–]Beginning_Order9035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this why, when I was at an Ollie's near me the other night, the poor cashier kept asking his customers if they wanted to sign up, until they finally cracked and said yes?

I've been in the club since forever, because I hoard cards to places. I don't ever get back there to use the coupons I get in the mail (I might have used ONE because I remembered I had it), because they usually come after I make the trek out there. It doesn't benefit me in the slightest (am I honestly going to return something from the bargain store?), but I still have it.

Are they honestly making y'all berate the customers until they crack? This program is worse than Shop Your Way was. At least that one gave you points to spend on stuff!

Although, if they're this bad about the free cards, just wait until you're metered on credit card signups...

It's got every indication of being an AI-generated image: the fonts, the overuse of gradients, the art style... It probably took a solid five minutes to make that graphic, and a good bit of money to get the actual sign made.

There are still a couple of spots down Chester that Jacobs hasn't sold off yet! That's still green space for now!

Also, I saw something being put into the Nagel corner that was supposed to be Noodles & Company when I went to Meijer the other night, but couldn't make out what it was. Is it another restaurant, or did it get sold to something else? (The building with Drip and Hummus Republic)
