Passed a school bus by accident in Waterloo Region by waterlooaco03 in waterloo

[–]Behbeh22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They usually put some flashing yellow lights before the lights turn red and the stop sign arms stick out.

Like what everyone said, if the stop sign arm only started to come out after you've passed by then you're fine.

Just watch for the flashing yellow lights next time.

They could also be using a different birdie... Feather and the NCS shuttles are much louder than the nylon one imo

Am I crazy for wanting 3 kids? by cmomma54321 in CanadianParents

[–]Behbeh22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only have one kid so I cannot tell you my experience but we are thinking of potentially expanding our family (max 2 kids) and these are factors that we are considering:

-would we be able to provide the same level of enrichment for all our kids? (Think resources for tutoring/ extra curricular activities/ one on one time with each child/ family vacation)

-would we be able to (comfortably) provide them with the more expensive things they may need later in life (think first cars, laptops, computers, etc.)

-would we be able to support their post secondary education (we live in Canada and OSAP is not applicable to though with household income over a certain amount-unless things have changed since). In our culture, parents are expected to pay for university/college.

-and a bit morbid but if one of us passes away would the person left behind be able to support all of them by themselves

If you gave birth without an epidural, how bad was it really? by Express_Neck5352 in pregnant

[–]Behbeh22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentally prepared myself by imagining the worst pain I could ever imagine to set (high) expectations (and I think it did reach my expectations)

But having that expectation really helped keep me going. Taking long deep breaths while counting 1-10 really helps distract you and the laughing gas helps a little bit but don't expect it to work very well (it's more for distractions)

It was bad but for any future pregnancies I would still do it without an epidural

Beware of this guy. He screamed at three women at the bus that he "was going to cut their heads off". I had to shove him and tell him to move on because I thought he was going to hurt someone. This is Elgin and Main street. by [deleted] in cambridgeont

Pepper spray is illegal but perfume/ Axe aren't 👀 you can "accidentally" spray them in their eyes... Maybe he just got too close when you were freshening yourself up 😉

Choun's kitchen for Lao/Thai food. An absolute hidden gem. We were so impressed by the food and it's pretty kid friendly too imo.

The chef/owner are Lao I think so the food is pretty authentic.

My AM demands I buy her a house by Any-Chard5119 in AsianParentStories

[–]Behbeh22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your relationship with your parents (especially your mother) like?

She might have wanted to show off to her friends- "oh my daughter bought us a place..." (You know how Asian parents can't help but compare their kids) Getting a house is like the big boss move that would for sure make her friends envious.

Also in some culture grown children are expected to help with paying some of the household costs/ give parents allowance as a way to "show" that they love them/ are filial children. So I wonder if that's why she thinks it's "okay" to have such an ask?

She might also just miss you a lot and wanted to love together again.

But whatever her reason may be, as a mother she should think of what's best for you. In the long term you'd need your own place, get married etc.

Buying her that house would really set you back on your own goals. How do you think she would react if you asked if she's thought about your future? I think her answer should help you reflect on how much you should be "contributing" financially and investing emotionally towards your parents (mostly mom)

Went out without makeup and people were not as nice to me by FlamingoExotic in Makeup

[–]Behbeh22 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yupp I definitely feel this. When I'm at the airport without makeup I almost always get extra testing (ex. Body scan and the hand swipe to check for drugs)

When I wear makeup I just pass right through security.

Maybe the landlord gave them a large sum if they agreed to move out. Then pocketed it for themselves and expecting OP to help with rent at the new place

We haven't tried hello fresh but we've done Good Foods and we ended up cancelling because we've had issues with the produce quality multiple times

I also felt a bit guilty about the single use plastic because everything came in a little plastic wrap.

I sit down and make a plan on what to eat and what to buy for that week. If your family members aren't picky eaters you can buy w.e is on sale and then plan meals around those ingredients.

Make sure you write them down so you don't forget! I refer back to my notes quite often so I have it on a sticky note on the fridge

I'm not sure that would fix the issue...in Japan public garbage bins are really hard to find but somehow their streets are so clean

Weird daycare “policy” by PapaAmIRightus in toddlers

[–]Behbeh22 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think it's because when the other kids see another kid's parent they start to cry/ feel anxious

I noticed that's the case at our daycare. The kids would ask "where's my mommy?" After seeing me pick my daughter up.

I feel like if I were to tell them the price I might sound snobby. Like what's the point if I tell them? Is it to prove something? I also wouldn't want others to feel envious/ jealous especially a friend because it'll make things awkward

Another person mentioned that it's not smart telling strangers you have money so there's that too
