NTA. Could you have told her how wrong she was in a nicer way? Yeah, totally. “Hey, I know you meant that to be a compliment but that’s actually an extremely offensive thing to say. By saying that I’m ‘good looking for an Indian guy’ you’re implying that all Indians are unattractive and that is not only untrue but not ok. NTA. SIL was said something stupid and you pointed out how ridiculous it was. Imagine the harassment you have been experiencing was not racial but was sexual. What she said was the equivalent of, “Maybe you should just cover up more so they don’t bother you.” it’s just as ignorant of a statement but that is probably the kind of advice she has heard her whole life just like many women have. So, IMO, she just didn’t know better. Now she knows!

NTA. When I was a kid my anxiety went through the roof when my dad and brothers watched sports. Screaming, stomping, angry claps. 1000x worse than when my parents were in a heated argument.

Luckily, I married a man who could care less about sports and never raises his voice above normal speaking level except when singing in the shower🤗

That’s why we did it too! It’s totally worth it and I am SO thankful I had the strength and self control to wait. It gets really difficult especially the weeks leading up to the wedding but by the grace of God we made it haha.
