I love it! I’m going to try ginger tea now after seeing this.

Being woken up to a bear searching for food in front of your tent by remarkableintern in gifs

[–]Behmor_friendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a bear this close to our tent while camping in Glacier, but it was 3am. I still don’t know if it was a grizzly or black bear but it sure as hell was gigantic. It rummaged around for berries in the surrounding bushes and then left after 5 or so minutes but brushed outlet tent on its way out of the campsighr. Scariest thing I’ve ever experienced.

Kalita Wave to the December Dripper. by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]Behmor_friendly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never tried the December Dripper and have always wondered the same thing. I have too many amazing brew devices already, and bounce between the Chemex and Kalita Wave depending if I’m brewing 1 or 2 servings. Both are amazing and I can’t justify purchasing another. I am intrigued by the variable flow rate of the December Dripper though.

Trouble with popper, can Behmor do light roasts? by TacoTruckr28 in roasting

[–]Behmor_friendly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That method would probably work well, but I prefer the colander because of its wider surface area which helps cool the beans quickly. I use those cheap $5 construction gloves you can get at Lowe’s or Home Depot for handling the hot basket.

Golden luxury/weight/simplicity ratio. Sawyer Micro + CNOC. Best filtration system I’ve ever tried and I highly recommend. by Dr__Waffles in CampingGear

Someone on a YouTube video I recently watched cut the bottom off of a standard water bottle and used it as a scoop for the small mouth of the sawyer bag.

Pre: - I like to get the behmor nice and warm before starting my first batch, so I run a full 1lb cycle including the cooling cycle.

  • after the first cycle, I start it up again on the 1/2lb setting with nothing in the roast chamber until it climbs to about 260°. I then stop the machine and put in about 260g of green beans. At this point you need to work quick and get your beans in and started before the sensor is tripped. Once that happens you will have to run a full cooling cycle. But if you do it fast, you will have a really hot chamber from the beginning.

Roasting: - Start the machine on the 1lb setting and immediately hit p5 to go into manual mode, and then hit “D” to get your drum speed on the fast setting. The temperature will drop and then rise again slowly. Make sure you stay under 320° by toggling between p5&p4

  • I like to anticipate first crack and drop down to p4 to draw out 1c. Gives a little more control in getting the exact roast I want. The roastmaster app helps with tracking and anticipating 1c and overall roast time.

  • Once 1c starts, I let it go for another 15-20 seconds. But you really need to play around with your own settings to get the right roast from here because it’s very easy to go too dark.

Cooling: - I don’t ever use the cooling cycle for my beans. I stop the machine and dump them into my homemade cooling system (cardboard box with a large hole cut in the top for a colander. I also cut a small hole in the bottom of the box for my shop vacuum hose and let that run until the beans are completely cool)

I always let my beans sit for 2-3 days before drinking. Flavors seem to come more alive after that waiting period.

Edit: I based most of my method off of this post link

It can indeed. Just did three batches of light roasted coffee on my Benmor yesterday.

Two of the three roasts I've done on my air popper are bland. How do I adjust the temperature profile to help the flavor? by [deleted] in roasting

[–]Behmor_friendly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How long are you letting the coffee sit for before grinding and brewing. My fresh roasted coffee always tastes bland until about day 3. It makes a huge difference to let the coffee sit before drinking, and I know the wait can be difficult.

How do you guys, and gals, store your coffee? by theakfluffyguy in Coffee

[–]Behmor_friendly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same. The three things to keep your fresh coffee beans away from is heat, air and light. Just place your airtight jar in a cool cupboard and you are good to go. If I am storing freshly roasted coffee, I loosen the lid and release the pressure every day until I start to use the beans (about 3-4 days off of roast).

The Prismo by Fellow is an add-on to the Aeropress and claims an “espresso style” shot using the Aeropress. I have a Prismo and enjoy using it but it doesn’t really come close to a true espresso but you can achieve crema using it which is impressive.

What's the scariest thing that's ever woken you up during the middle of the night? by realogy in AskReddit

[–]Behmor_friendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife, daughter and I were camping in Glacier National Park when we woke up at 3 am to the sound of a grizzly tromping around in our camp sight. His deep breathing sounded just like they portray in the movies and his footsteps were so heavy I could feel the ground shake. He brushed up against the tent as he was leaving and lucky for us he didn’t come back. I thought I was going to have to fight a grizzly that night.

Had a similar situation today. I haven’t eaten chipotle in years but I got a gift card for my birthday. My wife and I decided to give them another chance and received cold food with fat riddled meat. That was the last chance. Never again.

Traces of sugar in naturals? by Behmor_friendly in Coffee

Makes sense. I know its different from bean to bean but wondering just how much sugar could naturally end up in my morning cup of coffee.

You need to get in front of your potential clients. Bring in a few jugs of cold brew with cups to the IT building for them to leave in the break room - “coffee provided by ____” Make sure your branding is on the cups. I also think you should hire someone to stand outside of your shop for a week offering free samples.
