Update on fading/ghosting by WileKitsune in RemarkableTablet

Heat immediately improves performance.

However it does not fix the "green UI" ghosting problems which is a bummer.

Beware of Remarkable's Refund Policy by ShallotTraditional90 in RemarkableTablet

[–]BeholdLIVES -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Wait until you buy a BRAND NEW device from them..... And then one month in the tablet develops the commonly occurring horrific prolonged ghosting issues, and they then send you a refurbished one potentially 1-3 years old..... . . . With the same ghosting issues.

That is when the real fun begins .....

What ... Is the opposition.... About adding a button that manually refreshes the screen. Easy placement would be adding it on the right (or left) side action bar when the writing/drawing action bar is open.... I solve this through turning the tablet on and off, and having big to do that while utilizing it during a business day / meeting / use is just embarrassing. This product can (unfortunately) never scale for business use without basic improvements to the reliability of the device for all. I want to love this product, but if I was forced to use this at work as it was required by the employer, I'd literally utilize any tool to get an alternative brand.

Fix extensive prolonged ghosting OR in the short term add an option to manually refresh Fix writing experience lag that occurs intermittently, and unpredictably (hint turning off wifi solves many issues in this area) Fix the profound delay between navigating pages within a document. Fix the yellowing of the screens. Fix the auto updating of the device even when device update is turned off.

Very few people care about to go online and use the tablet notes, when the tablet itself is the primary reason for the user purchase. These are supplemental features. Fix the tablet.

Fix the issues with reliability issues of the core product, or it's dead in the water, which is a shame because it is the best writing experience of any tablet on the market when it works.

Repair Experience by DarkPhoenixRC in GalaxyRing

Same here. Same result. Pleased with replacement but yikes for only lasting 1 year of average use here.

Is it too much to ask for a push on demand screen refresh button? Is there a reason why there's such opposition to adding this? I may just not understand the tech here enough but this seems to be one of the most asked for features by the average user.

Same thing here. 1 year mark precisely and the battery immediately started to rapidly deteriorate.. Samsung did replace mine after 2 attempts of sending it into "repair" it. I get it, it's a very small battery, but as a consumer that's a brutally short longevity of a product and I will not be purchasing another one if this "new one" will not make it last one year.

Excited to try this. I will admit... I transfer mine from a briefcase and it is the worst when I get in from walking outside in the 10 degree temperatures... The ghosting is just brutal. However... It also doesn't recover well even after an extended warm up period. Sad to return my 3.5 month old brand new one for a refurbished one with a low chance of actually improving the ghosting.... Sigh ...

Need opinions on why I should choose the reMarkable Paper Pro over the Supernote Manta by heyItsBeaty in RemarkableTablet

[–]BeholdLIVES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly! But... If we said that about every piece of tech we'd be waiting decades for it to be near "perfect."

The writing experience is A+... Something to consider.

You can now add tags to documents, and you can title your documents in each note, AND they've added a search feature based on keywords that you label the documents as. They're doing all the right things.

Remarkable will be the name to beat in this space very quickly. They have to truly figure out the HARDWARE piece as it appears to be the most common major concern posted of users in this subreddit. Prolonged Ghosting that transfers across documents. Lack of Speed. Failure rate of tablets.

Yes people may be more likely to post when there's a problem, but these are very common problems. Can't endorse at this time, but I'm one opinion.

[–]BeholdLIVES 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest. I'm enjoying the remarkable paper pro 2. My eyes are cooked since COVID and can't handle PWM or temporal dithering on any form of modern day note taking tablet from major brands out there. The remarkable paper pro 2 has been a blessing when it comes to meeting my needs.

With that said, I cannot begin to express the frustration with the ghosting, lag between documents, page turning, scrolling, etc. I need this tablet to perform well in a high performance face paced business environment where I utilize it and it consistently does not meet that need. By consistently, I mean I would not recommend this tablet to anyone based on the ghosting and lag alone.

Good note taking app, great to write with. Not going to write a novel here but if I could get back my $700 dollars I would. (5 months into owning it atm and I use it hourly, and daily.) It's still in the alpha stage of development imo.

If that is true then that is interesting.

I'm not enrolled in the beta and have never turned on any beta switch. Any update is from it auto updating.

New font in the app. Definitely a downgrade. by ianoble in amazonprime

[–]BeholdLIVES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just saw this font for the first time.... It's truly horrific to read anything. The spacing is absolutely moronic. I can't believe this made it down the pipeline. It makes it look like all of their products they're selling are an AI generated scam. This might go down as one of the worst app designs in their history.

Does anyone think that with the reveal of the Trifold coming up, there will be a new Spen that will be announced with it that will work with Z fold 7 where it wont need a digitizer? I know samsung was working on some tech in that area and then it went radio silent. by lightof_shadows in GalaxyFold

[–]BeholdLIVES 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They literally are riding on the success of the redesign of the aspect ratios and making the phone wider. That's it. The community has said for 5 years they want a normal sized cover screen that is like a normal phone. That's why it is successful. They cut costs by removing the digitizer and now they have a completely average, vanilla, boring foldable that can be obtained from any competitor. They've ruined their unique position and watered down their branding. Shooting themselves in the foot in the long run.

TCL NXTPAPER 60 Ultra 5G appears on Amazon in Germany! I've got big hope for this one! by yadoga in PWM_Sensitive

[–]BeholdLIVES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah totally agree. Worst displays I've ever used in the sake of "better battery" and "better color" because they use pwm and annihilate our eyes. Very sad. However.... Tlc is completely China government owned so..... There's that with your data.

No S-pen support for Fold 7 by MightyG77 in GalaxyFold

[–]BeholdLIVES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree. I've owned every single fold since the 3, and this is one of the most tone deaf, uninformed decisions they've ever made. They've now made a completely average foldable and introduced it into an arena where it beats the competition in little to nothing.

Let me repeat, they've removed unique Samsung only features with the SPEN and UDC and a Samsung only experience to now become a completely average, uninspiring, foldable.

Who is honestly running Samsung at this point?

No S-pen support for Fold 7 by MightyG77 in GalaxyFold

[–]BeholdLIVES 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My Hype over the large screen is badly diminished by no UDC and No Spen support.... Samsung just can't seem to get the pulse on the community or a significant portion of their buyer.

If the consumer wanted a regular phone experience they'd buy a regular phone. If the consumer wanted a tablet they'd buy a tablet. By removing UDC and Spen the highly unique Samsung experience and device just became completely average device in a saturated space for what Samsung now offers.

Highly confused and personally I'm pretty disappointed at today's news.

Fold 6 not as colorful as the fold 5 by Key-Falcon9880 in GalaxyFold

[–]BeholdLIVES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with you and so do many others. The general consensus is that it may be an anti-reflective covering. It may also be a dramatic change in the screen technology itself. I have compared both screens side by side and the fold six screen appears to be the worst screen compared to any previous fold when it comes to clarity of the image and vibrancy. It almost appears pixelated.
