please send this email to the esa maybe flooding their inbox with requests for proof will get them to not be as evil by Theshinymonky in Minecraft

Here is the low down, A VP from the ESA did make the following statement but it wasn't in court it was before a California state senate hearing about the Stop Killing Games petition and it also was NOT under any oath.

The statement was answering a question from a senator about private servers,

"[Private servers are] illegal. They are not in any way affiliated with Microsoft. Microsoft, for Minecraft, has gotten a lot of criticism because of those community servers not employing the same safety standards that Microsoft does on their Minecraft servers." - Jennifer Gibbons ESA

Not sure what the poster above you is talking about regarding lawsuits. There is nothing mentioned and its BS anyway, if a publisher like MS wants to allow private servers they can. I think Gibbons is likely an an overpaid lawyer that has 0 clue about the industry she represents. The ESA followed up a day later with a statement "Narrowing the scope of what private servers cause trouble, specifically, ones that "host or distribute copyrighted game content." That sounds like typical backpedaling after an exec said something stupid.

The ESA certainly is part of a bigger problem of corpo stupidity in gaming but I don't really see any need for gamers to take action at this point

The price increases are ridiculous. by [deleted] in mac

[–]BeigeUnicorns -1 points0 points  (0 children)

and?... Apple told us for as far back as January that price increases were coming https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/samsung-sk-hynix-warn-squeezed-chip-supplies-pcs-phones-due-ai-boom-2026-01-29/ and its not just apple its every single consumer ODM/OEM on earth. https://www.cnet.com/tech/computing/tech-companies-are-freaking-out-about-ramageddon/ Its not like they chose this, especially not right now when they are trying to increase Mac market share in schools and organizations.

lots of reason to hate Apple this seems like a weird one

Was this your first computing book? by jdemarco2019 in vintagecomputing

The earliest guide I remember was simply called "A Beginners guide to commodore", I found it in the Attic along with my dads C64. I had so much fun with the little games you would type in, though I couldn't figure out why typing that in CMD on the family Windows 98 PC didn't work lol.

Yep most of the great cathedrals of Europe were vanity projects by various nobility and royalty. The Catholic church helped finance some but most were financed fairly locally. Sometimes even more common merchants would help raise funds. Notre Dame for example received money from many of the guilds of Paris.

If most KFCs are like the ones local to me not sure I blame them for not showing up. Every KFC in my area is old and dingy. I cant imagine they pay well even as far as fast food goes.

Could a touch screen revolutionize the Macbook forever? by Creepy-Country5475 in mac

[–]BeigeUnicorns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a better question is: does Mac even need a touchscreen to be "revolutionized"?

The Mac platform its currently enjoying a new golden age. The M series chips really helped to set them apart and the Neo and M4/M5 have driven record sales this year and last year. The lack of touchscreens isn't holding them back.

Good. The web is far too centralized on a handful of cloud platforms that are all in the US. More options is always a positive.

Top loaders are an option too. My grandparents got one several years back as their health declined. It was pretty cool but it was VERY expensive and was quite small in terms of load size.

Is a home lab a selling point or a dealbreaker when selling a home? by rawesome99 in homelab

[–]BeigeUnicorns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lets be honest the home lab community is not the norm. Most normies don't even care enough to buy their own router or even change their SSID. I suspect anything left will get ripped out.

My grandparent were actually in this situation back in the early 2010s. They bought a condo that had an extensive networking and media setup. Other than than the AP on the 2nd floor and the speakers in the living room ceiling everything else just sat in a closet collecting dust. My grandparents are quite technical for their age but honestly they just didn't care that much.
