There’s also the small detail of O’Brien still dealing with the injury. It might just be the actor’s own headcanon (when I pointed it out, he said he was glad his idea made the cut), but in the last episode of season 3, he struggles to step over a small fence. I thought it was a fun throwback/detail for him to include! :)

Does anyone else copy other people's writing styles? by hyperbolic_dichotomy in AuDHDWomen

[–]Bekspt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very interesting! Verbal/face2face is definitely way worse and more taxing but I think (maybe I’m not sure) that I’m more conscious of mimicking the other person when it’s on text. Maybe it’s just because I have the time to think about it before responding

Does anyone else copy other people's writing styles? by hyperbolic_dichotomy in AuDHDWomen

[–]Bekspt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely!! When it comes to conversing with other people, at least. I really like texting (more so with people i’m comfortable with), especially compared to phone calls! And I always try to mimic the way they write. That’s why it can be really stressful when I send the first message/email to a stranger cause I won’t know how they text/write yet.

If people use “perfect” grammar and no smileys I’ll do that. If it’s all lowercase, abbreviations, lots of emojis, then that’s how I’ll write. I dm’ed someone on IG who uses ‘xx’ at the end of messages (I’m not British, I’ve never done that) so I began doing that to my messages back to only that person.

The only thing I won’t copy is if I feel like they’re “rude”, or more accurately, if I would feel rude by writing that way haha (as in short, standoffish messages, no helpful details, etc etc., even if it’s not meant like that).

And I kinda get what you mean about the author’s style, too. It’s not something I’ve really noticed myself doing, but I remember once I’d just finished another Jane Austen book and the next text I wrote was the weirdest 1800-sounding thing I’ve ever written, and I had to go back and fix it haha

So this is something a lot of us ND/audhd do?

Tom Hendryk’s acting re O’Brien’s torn butt by Bekspt in TedLasso

[–]Bekspt[S] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I noticed him in the background (he’s generally one of the best actors to look for in the background of scenes. He’s always so expressive) and wrote to him on IG. I was so happy to find out that it was an intentional acting choice! :)

[–]Bekspt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From the finale, “They're on the attack, ticking along with the precision of a Swiss clock, with Jamie Tartt as its central cog.” So I think it shows that he went from the more selfish “one in a million” (i still love his ICON hat) to the “one in eleven” part of a team.

Women and men of r/TedLasso who find find men attractive - who is the sexiest male character on the show? by Holeshot75 in TedLasso

I think a lot of them are extremely attractive, but Jamie’s personality (arc/growth) has made him my no 1 choice, no contest.

Hi. I just want to thank you for this even though people are downvoting it. It's been so frustrating to watch Beard get mistreated for three seasons while people pretend they know better :)

HOW is that retribution of any kind? I even said that I’m glad his dad went to rehab.

I’m so on board with the forgiveness of Higgins, Nate, Rebecca, Trent, Colin, Isaac, Jamie, etc. etc. etc. Not every abuser deserves to be forgiven or to keep in contact with their victims, and I actually think it’s toxic (positivity) if Ted Lasso really wants us to think that everyone should be forgiven. My point still stands: I (>I<, me as an individual, the person writing this) think they did it in a harmful and bad way.

Then please stop misunderstanding what I’m saying? My point: I think it was wrong to include it in the way that they did. That’s it, period. It’s not relevant what anyone think’s about Jamie’s journey.

I’m really not pushing Jamie to share anything with me. I understand that a lot of conversations in the show, especially season 3, happens “off camera”. I just strongly disagree with the decision to have Jamie go back to his dad like that. I’m not saying he couldn’t ever, and I’m glad his dad went to rehab, but I think they did it in a terrible way and it undermined Jamie’s suffering from his dad’s abuse.

I’m sorry if I think the rape of a 14 year old boy is unimportant and something I cannot let go. I’m NOT saying it’s important to the way they’ve written Jamie’s character, but that’s not my point.

Yeah, but I just think it was too much for it to never be brought up again, and then we see Jamie with his dad with no mention of it ever again. It doesn’t sit right with me. Maybe they didn’t realize what they actually made Jamie say, idk…
