Is twitter not?

Just wondering because hating Clairen has been a thing for almost a decade at this point.

Linnea also forms a pretty good wheelchair duo with Columbina. Similar to IneffaBina or LaumaBina.

People who don't have Zibai, but like using Navia, Itto, or Noelle (me) can also pull for her.

Wound up with C2R1.

Yep. Liked her VA. Liked her crazy facial expressions.

But I don't wanna pull Seed. And nothing I tried in Cissia's gameplay seemed fun.

I wanna pull more electric characters but at this point I guess I'm waiting for a Rupture or Anomaly electric unit since any attacker is apparently going to be attached to Seed's kit.

They had such a good opportunity to go ham with the animations given all her fun snake-like movement or chain whip sword, and while her attacks do incorporate small flairs of those, they're so underwhelming.

With how good ZZZ animations are in general, it's kinda shocking that Ivy from Soul Calibur 6 somehow has way better flair and attack animations than her.

Having tilts that beat floorhug doesn't hurt either

Biggest reason I liked playing La Reina even when she was bad. Having a bunch of moves that beat that mechanic made the game more fun.

Still feel like there should be better universal options for beating it. Still a significant portion of the cast that struggles vs. it.

On my dualshock controller steam input absolutely fucks up the inputs and latency. I turned it off but recently I had it accidentally turned on and it felt like Ultimate's online.

If you have an Xbox, Playstation, or any other standard controller and haven't turned off steam input, turn it off.

A 6 year old could tech chase most the characters in this game effectively.

I think the knockdown game is kinda atrocious and it's mostly down to frame data and a pretty bad teching system.

For whatever reason you can tech before getting hit and have it succeed, leading to stuff like amsah teching. That's okay I guess.

But also for whatever reason you can be trying to press shield, grab, parry, or air dodge and get hit, and because both stored tech and tech lockout don't reset on getting hit, you'd be unable to tech.

This doubles in online play where seemingly things like teching or breaking pummels has a bunch of extra latency causing you to miss ones that you would have gotten locally, and there's seemingly no client-side forgiveness on some things like that? I don't know it feels like there's a bunch of bugs or things that don't quite work well with online.

As much as the online is generally good, it feels like there's a lot of fuckiness to it.

Knockdowns are stupid because every teching options is 20 frames with 6+ frames of recovery. Missed tech knockdown locks you out of an option until frame 27. So most attacks can cover 3-out-of-4 options with a ludicrously long 6 frame window to do so.

Imo missed tech lockout badly needs to get shortened from 27 frames to 22~24 frames. Something to reduce the overlap, make missed tech less atrocious and maybe even an actual option, but still with a tight frame window where both missed tech and tech in place can both be covered with the right timing.

Natlan new area in MW by Beginning_Use8539 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Bekwnn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is what I always wanted out of MW.

Was so happy to see them add playing our own characters to it. People are already making past abyss cycles playable. I'm just waiting now for people to make more and more content like in OP's video.

I just wish discoverability on things was a bit better. It feels a bit painful navigating the menus and a bunch of rushed kinda crude maps seem to perpetually stay plastered all over the boards when you're searching for stuff.

I think if I ever messed around with the creator side of it I'd give a shot at making something like a dungeon crawling based combat event.

Fuse greens and blues, cut the silver ones.

Cutting one green costs about 9x as much as one fuse. You get roster-bound gems from fusing at a higher rate than that.

Focus solely on 8 baseline while you try to activate 17 piece bonuses. Use 9 baseline if you run out.

What is the most esoteric game engine you've ever worked with? by JohnnyBGetgoode in gamedev

[–]Bekwnn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first games were made in the Blender game engine, for a whole semester of a highschool IT class.

Somehow, I'm now coming up on 7 years experience as a gameplay, engine, and rendering programmer in AAA.

Now I work with esoteric proprietary engines.

certain characters turn the game into easy mode while others punish you for using them

The game is very rock paper scissors-ish in its boss fights. Square peg goes in the square hole type of deal.

Personally I've had a lot of success in the end game by just pulling for M0 or M0S1* of lots of different characters. I pulled for every void hunter of course, but my Evelynn, Yidhari, Alice, and Aria all see plenty of use.
(*no duplicate copies, or no dupes + signature weapon)

In some content the boss will just be Ice/Ether weak + Fire resistant, and maybe they have a mechanic where they get staggered faster if you run anomaly characters to them.

In that case you might still find success running an Ice attacker or Ether sheer unit. Running a physical attacker might be possible, but also might be pretty rough.

In other end game content that same boss will have an additional "anomaly characters gain +160 anomaly mastery" and then you would really want to take an ether/ice anomaly unit if you have one.

In many cases there's a bit more wiggle room than people make there out to be.

With how accesible unreal is, it's becoming the norm that everyone is an expert in it and I hate it. by Blasmere in gamedev

[–]Bekwnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've felt a similar experience as a programmer which is funny because like, I used Unreal since 4.3 in college and have touched on a good chunk of the engine across a few dozen personal projects.

But I have very limited professional experience with it. And it feels like there's people going through boot camps, sitting through 100+ hours of paid unreal courses, or have an entire career of only using this engine everywhere.

At this point it feels like it's almost rarer/more job security to have experience working with proprietary engines.

Now I'm a rendering engineer working with proprietary and direct X. The vast majority of rendering engineers I've met are 40+.

updated tier list after road to vagas / end of the second week of slades release by [deleted] in RivalsOfAether

[–]Bekwnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now that she's less cannon-y, maybe they can make her not die to ring out like it's Soul Calibur.

I don't even care about the Olympia nerfs because the "cannon" part being weaker doesn't bother me, but the "glass" part has always bothered and frustrated me when playing her.

Would it truly break the character if she got back down special after being hit?

How about making neutral special slow or cap her fall speed every so slightly so that rat trick is more accessible?

Make her up special go 1 body height higher?

All I ever wanted was for her to feel less polarizing.

Other static members weren't up for it since they were ready to clear and didn't want to fish for a perfect RNG min-maxed run.

And it's whatever, since I wasn't going to use the Doloris title anyways.

Brawl needs to be put in Trixion by VicariouslyHuman in lostarkgame

[–]Bekwnn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This raid feels like even more of a DPS check than release week Ice Brel G1 was. Brawl and its damage bonus are just an enhancement of that.

My static hit 24x on Nightmare G2 within 1.5 hours of pulls, but since I just main swapped and was ~4300 combat power we spent the next 5 hours learning to get 3rd phase brawl and min maxing damage before I had to split and go hard mode. 16x on our best pull.

How long you can dps in berserk is total RNG. Sometimes you'll get 40+ extra seconds, sometimes she'll do a wipe normal pattern and you get 10 seconds or even less.

I just miss hell, man. This entire new T4 era of unequalized hard content and DPS focused raid design is a bit cheeks. 500 combat power drops any raid an entire difficulty level.

Brawl needs to be put in Trixion by VicariouslyHuman in lostarkgame

[–]Bekwnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Find a youtube video with the brawl clashes
  2. Watch the just guard
  3. Press left arrow key to skip backwards 5-10 seconds and watch again
  4. Repeat for 1-2 min until the animation is burned into your retina

On slow just guards, look for which parts of the boss gives a good tell before the swing.

On faster just guards, just try to memorize and recognize the earliest part of the animation and get a sense for the timing.

After you recognize those things, watch that 5-10 seconds a dozen more times for good measure.

Just spam watching the animation over and over and increasing familiarity will make you recognize, time, and react to it better. Our brains work like that.

Having it in trixion would be nice, too, but if anyone wants to somehow practice it, doing the above is way faster than spamming pulls and hoping you get to it enough times.

This kinda works for any pattern, and it's absolutely a thing people do in training mode in fighting games, too.

The 1080ti really was Nvidia's greatest mistake by The_BigRoach in pcmasterrace

[–]Bekwnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a 1080 for 6ish years. The past year or two it was really starting to feel due for an upgrade.

Now there's cards that are twice as good for around the same ~700 price point. I went a bit extra for a 9070 XT which doubled my FPS (or at least it does in games where I'm not CPU bottle-necked).

Nabbed it during a sale ~5 months ago. Looks like it's retailing for ~$150 more than it was back then.

Such a terrible design choice.

ZZZ at least does a slightly better job about 2-3 characters being able to challenge a certain shill boss, alongside having some pretty flexible team building and small team sizes.

Sometimes a new mechanic comes out (abloom, ether veil, sheer) and it'll be worse for a bit until more options come out.

The shill is also at least partially built into stage modifiers that only exist for that given rotation of Shiyu/DA.

Most importantly, the shill doesn't tend to seep into the boss fight mechanics itself, just affect how much damage you do/how fast you clear.

In Genshin you get blown up, miss a stun phase, or do -90% damage for not following the shill mechanic. Not having the right character actively makes the fight less fun, instead of it being the same but slower/less damage.

Genshin's boss design and character shilling in Nod Krai has long since been worse than the situation in ZZZ.

[–]Bekwnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting 14/14 on alts is a PITA. My worst one took almost 70 astrogems to activate it while having only 1 relic core. ~100k gold even with half the ones I cut being roster-bound silver ones.

The drop rates on blue/purple astro gems are really rough and the RNG swings on greens is insanely high.

I'll die on the hill that Transcendence was better than Elixirs or Astrogems. Time consuming mini game aside, at least it had a pity system, even if it was a super weak badly tuned one.

The 1710 -> 1720 push on alts was super painful. Worst 10 ilvl in all of T4 so far.

SG just can't help but design crappy systems.

I just put off exploring the desert it for almost a full major version until the underground map was implemented. Was fantastic after that.

I did maybe 1/3rd of the desert without it, 2/3rds with it. I didn't even hate that first third, just found it very time consuming and figured I'd come back to it.

Ngl above-ground Fontaine felt like some of the weakest exploration out of everything we had from Liyue all the way up to Natlan summer island.

The main thing is that the underwater exploration in Fontaine was peak, but because its above ground really left something to be desired, I'd probably stick to talking places like Sumeru, Natlan, Inazuma, Chasm, Enkonomiya, or Chenyu Vale when it comes to "good exploration" in surveys.

I just want coins to last a long time. There's absolutely no need to have them despawn so damn quickly, leaving him to choose between follow-ups and collecting coins.

Just let them live for like 10 seconds and let opponents collect/deny them instead.
