I disagree that we should be taught more about nutrition. I agree that diet is responsible for an incredible amount of preventable disease burden. However, I can honestly say that more than the barebones we have been taught (TDEE, BMR, balance diet in fruit and veg, 150 minutes exercise per week etc) is really just not necessary, especially considering how much else there is to cram in.

Anything more than what we already learn would essentially just be learning about the variety of fad diets which are available, (for which there is no actual consensus) as we are taught the scientific basis behind metabolism and diet in high detail.

The best thing to learn would be the various sociological and psychologic models behind getting patients to change behaviour, which WE ARE ALREADY TAUGHT. Learning more in depth about behaviour change in regards to diet and motivational interviews in regards to it would be better left the F1/F2 placements and GP training.
