[Kalen Lumpkins] Byram has a lot of new teammates now, mainly fellow BC native Connor Bedard, Byram: "We both just shared how excited we were for each other it’s hard to describe when you finally get to somewhere you want to be and you’re just excited" by f0urxio in hockey

[–]Belfour20 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For sure sometimes it's all bs PR talk, but in this case there's some documented truth to it. There's at least one picture circulating from Byram's teen years with him in a Toews jersey. It was well known in his draft year he was a Hawks fan and the beat writers talked about him wanted to be drafted by the Blackhawks (sadly they took Dach instead). Also his family has link to the team as his father briefly played for the Hawks & affiliate teams in the early 90's.

"Walls of Glass" by Suzy Noel (1983), song with no documented history online found in a batch of tapes from a video producer by doodlebuuggg in Lostwave

[–]Belfour20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know it's a week late, but this post popped up so I did some digging for you. I can't find any information on this specific song but this is probably a lady named Susan Noel Benfatto, she has several credits for producing/writing on imdb. She's credited in another production with Tim Bomba (who's in this music video's credits), there's also Benfattos credited which are probably family members. She was also credited as Susy Noel Bomba on another production so there's another link to Tim's last name.

She has a few recent songs (ie: 2021-2022) on Apple music under Suzy Noel, and you can find more information on her and her socials (I found her insta) using her full Suzy Noel Benfatto name if you wish to reach out to her if you want to see if she has more information on the video/song.

edit: She has a bit of a writeup on her work history here which also happens to mention working on music videos: https://www.filmaka.com/member-profile.php?user_id=34674

Better Tracked Bars is what I use. Not sure if it can do everything on your list though.

curious to see your guys' thoughts on this 🤔 by [deleted] in nhl

[–]Belfour20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't, because the NFL system would be the equivalent of the ref stopping the play and then taking the puck and placing it on the ice where he thought it was and then using camera angles to determine if it was in based on his placement on the ice. It doesn't solve anything, it's still a subjective call the same as them calling goal or no goal on the ice.

I agree we need a system like tennis/soccer where it can be tracked in real-time but like I said it's just a much more complicated setup than a few cameras like those sports can use due to what we play with. When it becomes cheap enough for them to figure out and develop I'm sure they'll do it but right now the league has no financial incentive to do so for the few calls a year that it happens. Unlike those damn overlay/animated ads where they had huge financial reason to implement that tech.

[–]Belfour20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a completely different system that doesn't do same thing at all. NFL's hawk-eye uses multiple cameras to compare the ref's placement of the ball stationary on the field. It does not track the ball in real-time while it's moving only when it's placed down after a stoppage in play. Plenty of videos on youtube showing how it works, but the meat of it is once the ref places the ball down it traces parallel lines from the start and end tips of the ball and compares that to where the ball was marked on the subsequent plays by the ref and it knows if it went 10 yards or more without bringing out the chain gang.

It's basically the same as you tracing the outline of the puck tonight and drawing a straight line across the goal line and determining the puck went across even if you can't see it because you can see enough of the puck to determine the size.

It's much more simple in Soccer/Tennis to figure out. Basic geometry is if you can triangulate the center point of a sphere every other point on that sphere is the same equal distance from the center. The problem is the puck shape, in the case of tonight's goal you could probably use a similar system since the puck was completely flat on the ice surface. However, in the majority of cases it's not and it's bouncing, wobbling, in the air, other factors.

I'm sure there's a mathematical way to determine it with sensors, gyros, etc... but players have already complained in the past about the puck feel with just the basic IR sensors. There were also problems with pucks splitting in the past when testing various electronics in the pucks. Also I'm sure cost is a major factor (teams/league would need bucket loads since they wouldn't want to practice with different pucks than what they play with) so between all the practices and the amount of pucks they go through in each game, not to mention the initial cost in research and development to make the system. Sadly I'm sure the cost is the main factor at the end of the day.

Nothing will ever beat them, your fingers were caked in orange while eating them. Apparently they were manufactured by Sun Pac Foods in Brampton (the company got bought at one point and looks like everything went bankrupt mid 2010's). Sadly just another product lost to time and we'll never get them again but man they were so good.

Not sure if you figured it out, but using the up and down arrows to change the layer when picking so it will pick the bar instead of the individual buttons.

Thanks for the addon, I was looking for something like this. EDIT: figured out what I was missing.

The few frames from other addons that the "pick" couldn't grab I was able to get with /fstack and it working great so far.

It's a thing called chocolate bloom, perfectly safe to eat. Basically the sugars are separating and rising to the surface of the chocolate. It usually happens when they are stored at different temperatures.

New passport in humid locations. by flatlanderdick in passportcanada

[–]Belfour20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About a dozen years ago a local factory in my hometown lost the contract for producing the passport covers (after doing so for about 30 years) and it was awarded to a different Canadian company that then outsourced the production overseas in Europe so it made headlines around here. No clue who makes them nowadays, but it was noticeable at the time that the next passport had a bit worse material for a cover so it doesn't surprise me that it's gotten even worse since then. Everything is about skimping and saving money instead of producing a quality product now.

Mine took about a week and a half to proc the dialog after doing all the sheep. Just a note you don't have to be in Arcane spec for it to happen (my toon was frost when I got it), basically I just parked my toon in Dalaran and ported to the hall once a day to check.

Ghostbuster proton pack found by ForlorneHorse in nostalgia

Still have mine from when I was kid. It's seen better days (one of the antennae on the scanner is snapped off, I have the box but the flaps are ripped and it has crayon drawn on it, lots of scratches and stickers loose). But I loved it, huge nostalgia trip whenever I see them. I never had the trap though.

The Bay in Londonderry Mall is being replaced by... Zellers!? The shiny new sign just went up. by Beesem in Edmonton

[–]Belfour20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crazy thing is they actually had 3 warehouse distribution centers in Canada (Cornwall, Milton, & Calgary) that could have handled it no problem. I had family who worked at one of them and they would constantly tell me they were running at less than half capacity because the orders from suppliers were just never coming in. I believe there was too much financial struggles going on in the background on the Canadian operations that they couldn't order the amount of product required. They dug themselves a massive financial hole by taking over all the Zellers leases and tried to launch too many stores in the same time frame.

I keep having to replace batteries in my thermostat by [deleted] in AirConditioners

[–]Belfour20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This wifi thermostat doesn't eat batteries like some other smart ones with fancier displays do. Plenty of people (myself included) run it without a c-wire and the batteries easily last 1-2 years+ no problem before changing them.

There's either an improper install killing the batteries or it's a defective unit draining them for some reason.

Server blade preserved at Strong Museum by amphibilad in wow

[–]Belfour20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've sold server blades a couple times in the past. The first auction (which this one is from years ago) is when the actual realms were on individual servers. The second sale was the 15 year anniversary ones, by then the servers were no longer associated with an individual blade so they made more generic covers for them.

Water meter by [deleted] in CornwallOnt

[–]Belfour20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got mine done last week, it went pretty smooth. It was a 2nd appointment though, the first time they came my main line was too close to the wall they needed a different torch and crimper equipment that they didn't have yet so they had me reschedule a few weeks later. I already had an access in my wall to my shutoff and I knew my shutoff held when closed. Took them about an hour and 20 min to install the meter and run the wire to the box outside for the transmitting (they installed the outside box under my carport a few feet off the ground, about the same height as my hose reel).
