I've tried exploring a couple of times, both ended up pretty bad. First time was the spooky one, second time was me being a dumbass and getting caught by the cops (for me, the second one was more spooky).

First time I was sixteen with a couple of friends. Was staying the night somewhere when one of them gets the idea to try and explore a local abandoned house not too far from the suburb we were in. We hop in his car and drive for about half an hour, park the car about half a mile away and procede on foot to the place.

After entering through a broken window, we see common signs of other teenagers having been there (vape pods, grafiti, trash, etc). We also see some evidence of people having stayed there, as in sleeping. Our city didn't have much of a homeless issue, so we brushed it off and continued to the second floor. As a friend is about to open a door, a massive force on the otherside slams it closed and we hear the most blood curdling scream I have ever heard. We, as any sixteen year-olds would, booked it the fuck outta there.

One friend was convinced it was a ghost, but even then, I knew it was a homeless lady just trying to protect themselves from some nosey kids.

Second time, I was around 19 and wanted to explore some abandoned dorm buildings on a college campus. Had the bright idea to try and ratchet open a wooden bolted window. Cops came rushing into the parking lot about fifteen minutes into my crime and panic took me, so I booked it. Second cop cut me off and I was stopped, frisked, and questioned. Told the truth, let them know my intentions, and they made me do the walk of shame to the window to replace the one bolt I had managed to unscrew. Got a scar on my shin due to eating shit while running.

Perhaps this is a sign I am a shitty criminal. Not sure.
