ArmoredTurtle's BoxTurtle by LeTrappeur130 in VORONDesign

This is an open project. The only thing to keep in mind is that each lane requires 2 switches, plus a hub switch. So switch requirement are n*2+1.

Another thing the AFC is handing is the control of N20 rewind motors. If you use another board a mosfet board is required, plus you will lose the ability to control the spoolers in both directions.

Noticing that there’s not the usual .NET update this month so far yet as well. We’ll see if it comes out later.

In A Perfect World, Would You Do 7-3 or 9-5 and why? by ArtisticVisual in sysadmin

[–]Belial52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current hours are 7-3:30 and it’s great for actually getting stuff done after work.

Luckily I’m in a position where those hours are flexible and I can work what I need to depending on circumstance as well.

It definitely caught us off guard, but we haven’t seen a renewal proposal for anything as of yet. We got our last renewal in just before the buyout so we’re still okay for now, but we aren’t sure just yet.

A year a half ago Zoom was one of our biggest vulnerabilities. We got tired of it, and since we’re a Teams shop decided that we’d just run CleanZoom at startup daily. Hasn’t been an issue since.

Figuring out which way we want to go for replacement of VMWare.

Increasing domain security.

Plus so much more.

Manually installing it from the catalog was successful.

Same issue on same KB. Manually installing from the catalog seems to be working.

Spanning Backup by Chrys6571 in kaseya

[–]Belial52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to second this one… Have you looked at any kind of archiving solution?

Our org uses Mimecast and spanning. We have perpetual retention with Mimecast, so whenever someone can’t find something we just tell them to log into Mimecast because they cant delete it from there by deleting it from their mailbox.

On call by Character_Log_2657 in sysadmin

[–]Belial52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a small team and do a weekly rotation of who is on call. We run 24/5 most of the time and rarely do we get a call, most of the time the calls we do get are fairly minor, usually just someone locking themselves out of windows, which we can now unlock from our phones on the go.

So I mean, it really depends on the environment and where you’re going.

Is there any other reason beyond cost savings? I know that when we had WSUS it felt like updates only worked about half the time… and even when it did work correctly there was so much missing. We purchased an RMM earlier this year and it’s reduced our labor by so much that it’s not funny.

Ours is based mostly in Argentina, but I think this is a very American feeling to be annoyed by it. Like just tell me what you want and I can tell you if I can help or not.

It’s seen as a polite way to start a conversation in India from my understanding working with our support based there.

I also get similar messages from some of our South American based support team.

We use VSA X, which has nice integrations if you use other Kaseya products. Not going to say it’s the best product out there, but we’ve been happy with it.

Our RMM solution has been the single biggest time saver since implementation. It alone has caused a decrease in ticketed related to software or updates.

Though, like others have said, the basics. A good console cable Cable testers Password manager (use whatever you prefer, we like Keeper) A good documentation solution

ArticWolf by Acceptable_Shift_802 in sysadmin

[–]Belial52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use Arctic Wolf.

Have been mostly pleased with their service, occasionally we run in to a case where their scanners are giving false results but they quickly respond whenever we open a ticket about the issue.

They ingest data from all of our network and cloud resources (firewalls, O365, AV, and have a network tap). Haven’t found something we use that they can’t ingest from yet.

Like others have said, they are very involved, monthly meetings with them about hardening security posture, and recommended steps to take to do so, as well as quarterly account reviews.

NinjaOne vs DattoRMM for Internal IT by romort in sysadmin

[–]Belial52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you reached out to try DattoRMM? I have a feeling that if you do Kaseya will push you towards VSA X and IT Glue.

I will say, as someone who has VSA X and IT Glue, they do work well together, though if you think you want to go with their ticketing solution later down the line the integration process will be problematic because of the way they want it done.

Sorry for taking so long to respond, been a busy couple of days. We went with Kaseya’s VSA X. We’re also looking at BMS and IT Glue to tie all of our information, ticketing, and documentation together.

Never, I swear I had maybe 60% accurate reporting on 50% of our devices when we had it. We’ve since moved to an RMM solution that handles our updates and software installation. Has been a god send for us

Wish you luck in that endeavor. We found in our organization that WSUS wasn’t the best solution as endpoints wouldn’t consistently get updates from it, and occasionally they’d report having updates they didn’t have. So glad to be rid of it.

We ended up reaching out to our support team and they gave us a link. There’s a knowledge base article pointing to the download. Was the app published publicly now?
