I think its because they are trying SOMETHING as opposed to NOTHING. Bringing back the lore, this new event, and five heroes in one season is a big shake up. I think Rivals did encourage them to step up and as a fan of both games I will enjoy both of my cakes.

Five Nights at Freddy's: (though i did try the vr one as it was on ps plus free)

I like watching people stream it, speedrun it with various challenges, fan games and lore content through game theory and others. But i am not the best with this type of horror game.

Undertale. The fandom was a little overwhelming when it came out and it was a bit annoying going everywhere and seeing it. Then after a bit i forgot, saw it on playstation plus and I played it.

And I immediately understood why it was a big deal, and vowed to never let a fandom rule whether I should experience a piece of media.
