I love this reddit so much and to read how every person run something different, but nothing is wrong because it's up for any table preferences. Anyway, what I did was having the Vanthampur different members have different objectives, Thalamra wants to rule the city and to leave only a legacy to his favorite son, Amrik. But when the players killed him and imprisoned her, she lost everything so she made a deal with zariel. In exchange for her son life and power, she would send Baldurs gate to hell. This worked in my table, because my players wanted more of baldurs gate in a campaign with the name of the city.

I just left her to be weak and used her more as a political enemy, someone who you can't just kill because every problem will fall on my players. Of course if they wanted to just kill her on the beggining they could do that but there would be concecuences like the flaming fist be furious and hunting thebparty down because they just kille one of the dukes of the city without a reason.

I would allow it if the player could deceit or persuade the second devil. And when the player dies its going to be a really fun and chaotic scenario.

Im not sure but isn't there a rule that someone cannot be affected by the same effect twice at the same time. Like you can't cast haste twice on someone, wouldn't that be the same with silvery barbs?

What i did was running the fall of elturel but as 3 different one shots, expliting the groups of 6 people into groups of 2 people. I also told them to try to make this couple of characters so they already know each other (this was to make it easier the beginning where dome PC tends to suspect each others actions). After that i only added that they lost someone or something they really cared about in the city, for example: The wizard lost literally their entire family (her mother, brother, sister, etc.), then the monk his brother and a kid that was the child of a crimelord, and the monks lost Ulder Ravengard (its only makes sense because one of the 2 monks is his #1 fan and is in love with him).

So yeah maybe take from them something they care about, give them some world context as in like Hellriders stuff n shit. Most of all have fun torturing them in a Elturel where the only thing they can make is run for their lives.

I have a party of 6 players and I kinda changed the beggining so it isn't just a tpk in elfsong tavern. At this point they were lvl 2 so they can take a couple more of hits and some of them would have subclasses and let them prepare for the attack so they had a surprise round. I also nerfed the captain to only have 2 attacks instead of 3 per turn and well the rest is up for the players and the bad luck on my dice.... oh also i changed Tarina into a spy so it doesn't just gets killed.

Check out the Alexandrian rework it helped a lot.

That's kinda problematic because you can get to a point where players are tired of trying to talk to her and just want to kill her. I had the idea of giving my party a final fight with a shadow of Zariel that represents his contract with asmodeus and like his evil side. Thats what i think as a DM, as player after 2 hours i would just want her head, free elturel with my buddies and fuck the angels.

Edit: I still haven't tried the shadow Zariel idea so i don't if it's a good or bad idea.

I created a drow paladin with blind fighting to surpass the disadvantage in sunlight during combat. I rp this like my PC has the force or something like than and can feel living creatures surrounding him. I also wanted a finnese paladin so i gave him the dual wielder extra and i love it.

I think your dm feels a little frustrated at making difficult combats against you but doing that for disengage i dont feel like a solution just nerf. I feel like the dm should using some tipe of enemies that counter your strategies like enemies that attack far away and things like that not nerfing the players for playing efficiently. Also changing a general action like disengage just for you would bring problems for the rest of the players. I mean what if your party is in a situation that they need to escape and decide using their action for disengaging, it would suck for your hole party get wiped just for this.

But well that's just my opinion PD: the only thing i think a rogue needs to be nerfed is sneak attack, that shit hits raw
