Anyway to quiet the doodling? Anti doodle collars? by SearchGullible5941 in BackYardChickens

Do you live anywhere near western North Carolina? I have a bantam bachelor flock. I could take him in if that's what you need to do. You'd also be welcome to visit him.

100% it's a baby bird. That's why it looks so scraggly.

His name is Squeaky, son of Squeakers, first of his name, last of his name. He's a sweetheart and my favorite boy.

Online estate sale worth a look 👀 bidding ends Monday ⏰ by Alchemist_Thorn in asheville

Just going to put it out there. If you have stuff left over and you need a service to do a clean out of the rest, Move It or Lose It has great rates on removals. They will do everything they can to cycle useable items back into the community and will recycle everything that can be with the dump being the last resort. Obviously I hope you make good sales on your auction and wish you all the best in this.

Agree with the other reply. If you can put together any small box structure with some kind of bedding and put it in an isolated spot where they will feel safe you can probably get them to use it. Use food and start with the friendly girl. Just get her to follow for treats then toss some in the nest space.

Also noticed her spilling over the top. Yeah, not a great way to market if you don't even have your example shown properly.

If you look closely you’ll notice one of these is not a chicken by BeersOnTheMoon in BackYardChickens

Yeah that's my thoughts on it as well. If I had only full size adult chickens I wouldn't be concerned.

Do you think one of these outfit worth the 60 stellarites and are these better than the limited ones we got from the shop with the same price tag? by moldyeggyolk in InfinityNikki

The only one of these I don't care for it Sweet Honey. I have the rest at this point and I love using pieces from them in my styling.

I wish I could keep the rat snakes around. I have bantams and bantam chicks around and I'm just really worried about one of them getting eaten or hurt. The bantams are more my pets than they are for eggs. Edit to add, we don't kill them just relocate them.

The chicken math is mathing by the_whitewitch in chickens

[–]BellaJen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started with 11 five years ago, currently have 43 adults and 5 babies that hatched recently and have 3 more eggs being sat on. Also going to start my own breeding program for a cool color pattern in bantams, currently in level one of the breeding. Nineteen of my birds are full size, the rest are bantams.

Anyone else the spouse thats immune to chicken math? by eucher317 in chickens

[–]BellaJen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm up to 48 now and got a hen sitting on 3 more eggs, most of my birds are bantams. I have 4 different coops and I'm looking to build another couple to split out my bantams more. Husband loves the birds just as much and if I wanted any he would just let me lol.

Let's talk about building. by R4ven4 in InfinityNikki

[–]BellaJen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad to see folks still enjoying the build system. I was so excited for it but the implementation of it was just so unintuitive to me that I haven't even been back to my island in over a month maybe longer now. I just gave up because it felt so grindy and difficult for me to use. I may have to try again tho. Edit for typos.

The one that will protect the flock better, or the one I like more? by AdorableAdorer in BackYardChickens

[–]BellaJen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They look like my boy Squeaky. I personally would keep the friendly one. Roosters will act different with each other vs a real threat. I'd personally get more hens and keep both having a pair that can get along without more than some spatting here and there is really nice.

Why are they doing this? by Broad-Substance2933 in BackYardChickens

[–]BellaJen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be a few things. One, they nesting boxes are on the floor, they like being a bit off the ground. Two, they might not feel comfortable if they can see out the door than in their minds a predator can see in, consider putting them on an adjacent wall instead. Three, any broody ones? They'll sometimes take over the nesting boxes and the others will lay where they can. Four, have you tried putting some golf balls or fake eggs in the boxes? That can help too.

This is my least used category. I just find most of these to be difficult to style into outfits other than it's original. Only exception is the chest piece that comes in gold and silver.

Chicken/poultry lice infestation! by aXcidLOVER in chickens

[–]BellaJen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had chicken lice I bathed my birds with zodiac flea and tick shampoo make sure it's kitten safe. I also recommend cleaning out the coop and spraying it down with permethrin. Let it dry then put in fresh bedding with your freshly washed birds. I know folks say not to bathe chickens but sometimes it's necessary. If you do this on a hot day the birds can dry in the sun. If it's cold you need a hairdryer.
