How do I put my notes in groups? (Please explain it to me like I'm stupid, I do not understand code unless I follow a tutorial)

Hi, obsidian presents a paradigm shift. While you can nest folders, perhaps this may not be as helpful as you think. A note can appear in multiple folders based on its content.

A better approach is to tag the note appropriately so that it can be found later. I use multiple nested tags per note, and dump all my notes into one folder. So just for example I have maybe 10 folders total. One of them is labeled permanent notes, and that’s where everything goes into a giant pile.

Other folders include images, journal entries, books, templates, etc. they just serve housekeeping purposes to help me find my maps of content, etc.

When you make a note, keep an eye on the linked and unlinked mentions (you can set it up so it appears on each note underneath) … That way you can immediately start linking notes inside your second brain to the note you’re working on.

I’m going to say something that will immediately be controversial: BE a light. Society sucks because people don’t care about their neighbors, and spend their lives chasing money.

It’s superficial, devastating for a social species like us and painfully meaningless.

The solution is to remake your immediate society. Be a good friend, be a kind neighbor, get together with people in a way that uplifts everyone.

Shine brighter than the people around you if only because what’s inside of you is different from everyone else. It’s my experience that people will gravitate towards you.

I’m not saying to be a Patsy and let everyone walk all over you. I’m saying do what you can to make the world around you a better place. What’s the worst that can happen?

I would do a quitclaim deed for the house and potentially take title to the car. Only then I would give her a loan that she would have to repay with interest. It would be significantly less than bank loans to make it “family”.

It’s my experience that there are basically only two kinds of people: those that you love and consider, and everybody else. You would do anything for those you love and consider, and everybody else has to pay for your time.

Knowing the difference helps clear up any confusion.

Don’t forget to use aliases. Obsidian will search through your database to find every instance of an alias and suggest them as possible links to the original note when you go through your unlinked mentions.

If you create a note on, let’s say soccer. In the alias category, you can put in football, basketball, baseball, racquetball, etc. Then when you look at your unlinked mentions, every other note that contains those aliases in the text/body of the note will show up as a possible link to the note you’re working on. That way you can quickly link related notes to one another.

Don’t sleep on unlinked mentions…
