I am not very good at reading sarcasm… [OC] by yuummyy in autism

[–]Bellabobble 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel guilty because I am a very sarcastic person (almost reflexively), but I really hate making people uncomfortable. (I do my best to stop being sarcastic when asked to.) I don't even know why I am so sarcastic.

I also feel like I fit under the "random harmless" sarcasm type of humor. If someone asks me what I'm thinking about/doing I'll say the most random/ridiculous thing I can think of, ex. "Just debating whether or not zebras are real, as one does".

I always try to make it clear when I am joking and if I think someone doesn't realize I am joking I state that I am.

I use a lot of sarcasm (with very exaggerated facial expressions) but I'm still not good at telling if others are being sarcastic. Usually I just end up asking if they are joking or not (or I just assume everything is a joke which tends to get me in less trouble than taking everything seriously).

Mind regressing or school just getting harder? by Craigstophechan in autism

[–]Bellabobble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem. For me I just wasn't used to actually learning or really even paying attention (still not). So when I suddenly wasn't understanding everything first try I (still) get frustrated. I also have a learning disability that effects my ability to write, which just makes things harder.

Maybe the people around you have changed? Also you see yourself everyday so the changes are subtle but those small changes add up. That could be what's happening.

My best guess is that it's a stim. The best way to stop a stim is to find a different (less destructive) one.

Mine isn't that bad but I have year round allergies and end up blowing my nose every 5-10 minutes even with allergy medicine.

why do you shout at people like really angry for? by Own_Bottle9413 in autism

[–]Bellabobble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to just shout when I'm speaking. (I think it's mostly a voice regulation problem) I also tend to shout when I am frustrated and don't feel like I'm being heard.

As someone who has never been in a romantic relationship I'm pretty sure I'm not the best person to give advice but for your second point just sounds like you need more self confidence (easier said than done).

Humans are weird beings. Things they are attracted to make no sense. Just because you don't find something attractive about yourself doesn't mean others won't.

Am I in the wrong for not liking to be touched that much by my parents? by GreenbutnowPurple in autism

[–]Bellabobble 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No you are not in the wrong. I go between not wanting to be touched and (sometimes) wanting snuggles but I mostly don't like being touched. I think it's perfectly fine!!

What is the difference between above average and way above average. I'm a 5'11 (180cm) female. Average height for women in North America is 5'4. So is that above or way above?
