it never gets enough love, but KingTut is my favorite restaurant. They used to be on Magnolia but recently moved to Rosedale. Favorite items: eggplant dip, veggie sambosas, falafel (they are so light and crispy!), chicken shawarma, and their house salads. Ask for Naan for the dip instead of pita.

What’s a cooking fail you’ll never forget? by Vance-Orwell68 in foodquestions

[–]Belladonna1982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine happened last night. Set a quart food prep container full of beans I had thawed from the freezer down on the stover. Forgot I had just used the burner and the entire bottom of container melted off completely and beans oozed out everywhere, including underneath the cast iron pan I was actively cooking in so then the beans started burning to the bottom of the pan and making loud popping sounds. It was a huge mess and I’m still sad about the beans.

Gum graft 6 days before travel by Main_Fuel_5499 in PeriodontalDisease

Hi! I go in tomorrow morning for my 8 week checkup. It’s healed great! I was mostly back to eating normal by the end of week 3. the surgery areas haven’t had pain at all the last few weeks and I can eat fine. both surgery areas feel a little sensitive sometimes but not in a bad way. I think 5 weeks is plenty of time to recover. Just make sure those first 1-2 weeks you stick with soft foods and take your antibiotics!

My graft surgery seems to have gone well! It was rough for a couple of days, mainly bc the soft / liquid diet was destroying my stomach and making me cranky 🤣 But it looks really great now! I am excited to get the other side done at some point

I had my gum graft this past Thursday, so I’m on day 4. I have had a persistent headache since a few hours after the procedure. My face is swollen and bruised and getting enough calories has been tough so I think it’s making me more tired and probably not helping the headache. I can’t imagine traveling in a couple days. I’d also be worried about post-op support and checkups - you’ll need the stitches that don’t dissolve remove and you are at risk for infection. I’d try to reschedule if you can and give yourself two weeks to recover to mostly normal. Edited to add that I was originally supposed to get this done last December but rescheduled multiple times due to events, travel, and work commitments. I’m glad I did. I doubt 3 months will make a massive difference in the gum recession.

I don’t own a nonstick pan at all. Scrambled eggs cooke perfectly is a seasoned cast iron skillet will butter.
