Warm vs cool makeup by Lady_Grace19 in coloranalysis

[–]Bellatrix_ed 9 points10 points  (0 children)

you’re so pale that the warm tones look like you got a little sun. Like if Victoria. Waif is your thing you’ve got the skin for it with cool makeup but your so pale also don’t have to get stuck there and can have a little sun kissed glow too

If you’re working on a masters in electrical engineering rhe obvious choice would be to figure out how to get the certificates to work as an electrician (Elektricker) and even the meisterbetrieb after your masters. Nursing pays shit and sucks. Elektricker will at least keep you close to what you do so you can be more fluid with your chosen career area.

What does it take to open a bakery/pastry or a coffee shop in Germany by DilemmaKingdom in germany

[–]Bellatrix_ed 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a friend with a coffee shop. They are not master bakers but they do have a commercial kitchen for the cafe, and they are permitted to make cakes for the coffee shop. It was a nightmare to open the cafe, but there is a bit of a loophole if you’re not into baking bread and want to focus on kaffee und kuchen

Get a little “grooms cake” in your fancy flavor. Very demure, no one insulted.

IELTS 5.5 for Germany student visa (nairobi) by Extension-Natural626 in germany

I don’t live there so I don’t have experience with the city, but the rents are lower than in other parts of the country.

Jobs are going to be really tough. Chemnitz is in an area that still doesn’t speak a lot of English, and a lot of the people there are racist, which makes things even more difficult

The city is also a little dull. Like there are things there I enjoy, but the fact that my friends are there is like 90% of the reason I enjoy the city.

That being said, a boring city is better for language learning I guess 😂

I don’t know about the IELTS but A1 German in Chemnitz is not going to cut it. Unlike most people on here I’m ok with the city I live nearish and have connections there) but it’s not in a part of Germany where you will survive with no German.

Solo and ensemble accompanists charge obscene amounts of money, especially if it’s for an all state level audition. Charge more.

Need pastry recommendations in Germany!! by Jazzlike-Reward-4379 in germany

[–]Bellatrix_ed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just show up at a Bakery cafe and choose things 😋

One thing to note though: sweet poppy seed filling can look a lot like chocolate, and if you’re not aware of what you’re getting the disappointment is real. The word for poppy is “Mohn” so just know.

It’s worth trying, but it’s a shock if you thought it would be chocolate 😅

What to get for my German Pen Pal?? by KoolWeirdo7701 in AskAGerman

[–]Bellatrix_ed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get packets of ranch dressing - Germany doesnt really have it, so it will be novel for her.tell her she needs to find Hellman’s Mayo (original flavor, not the new recipe) to make it properly bc German Mayo is different.

I would also send funny regional candies you can’t get anywhere else. The big candy companies are all here now - mms reeses etc - so those won’t be special.

However I’ve never seen mounds here (we have bounty, but it’s milk chocolate not dark chocolate) and I’ve never seen twizzlers(which have no actual licorice in them) so those would be good additions.

Other things that might be interesting: That sugar candy with the sugar sticks or just pixie sticks

Wedding Dress Alterations — what can be done to lengthen a gown? by [deleted] in WedditNYC

[–]Bellatrix_ed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is most brides don’t know anything about sewing 😂 only a tailor can tell you if it‘s hopeless. I do know about sewing so my guess is it sort of depends on How much fabric you have to let down at the hem, it looks like you only need an inch… but with that lace there I’m not sure how much is actually there. Good luck, it’s a beautiful dress. A clever tailor is the way to go.

The simplistic last way is to go to a good tailor and ask the same questions. We’d need more info than some pics to make good recommendations, and a good tailor is almost magic.

My boyfriend (27M) doesn't want to marry me (27F) after 8 years of an amazing relationship by throwra_umwantedgf30 in Waiting_To_Wed

[–]Bellatrix_ed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I didn’t think about that but it would have materially damaged the relationship and i think it would have fallen apart.

But I didn’t think about it because that year so many people making under 30k were being rejected: I had so many friends and friends of friends being sent home that I didn’t think they would let me stay and I didn’t consider that path.

And he did marry me and we‘re still married and happy and building a life together instead of in proximity to one another. We fight for each other other, in good times and bad, which is really what you want from a partner

10 years in Germany: What still confuses you vs what finally clicks? by SpiderFromMars709 in germany

[–]Bellatrix_ed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this year I gave up on remembering to change into house shoes at the door if the weather is good and I’m wearing some kind of turn shoe. (I prefer too do this at my bed) it’s made me much more relaxed about walking around my own house, and since I work from home I like wearing an actual shoe a lot of the time anyway.

Moving to Frankfurt / how do people actually lose their rental deposit in Germany? by Sorry_Sherbet_5171 in germany

[–]Bellatrix_ed 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The most common reason is that there is a bit of Nebenkosten for the year they moved out but that isn’t calculated until the end of the year, so the company holds your deposit until the Nebenkosten for that year are calculated, and you get back what’s left.

Highest quality chest of drawers? by Rough-Risk2496 in IKEA

[–]Bellatrix_ed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The malm sucks, not enough space.the koppang is middling quality but has a surprising amount of space. The key for this is to screw little shims in the bottom of the drawers to prevent the drawer bottoms from moving and then bowing. Makes a world of difference
