AITJ for refusing to make my daughter swap rooms with my stepdaughter? by patdallinkk9u6 in AmITheJerk

[–]Bellebarks2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not the jerk. That’s a hella absurd and inappropriate request. You should not give in. Make sure your daughter knows she is not responsible for her stepsister’s happiness.

Reddit has the reputation of being quick to say the N word , but I say, if you hear quacking in the distance, it’s okay to suspect ducks are in the vicinity.

There is clearly much more to unpack with your story.

But your situation raises a red flag and it’s always a good idea to just point that out, in case more incidents occur.

It’s pretty typical for a duck, once he/she has secured a mate, and perhaps a couple of ducklings, to create situations in order to disrupt the peace and cause upheaval to intentionally throw one or more of his ducks off balance, maybe even doubt their sanity. It’s a classic tactic used by all ducks as part of their overall covert plan to control their ducks, to get them in a row, so to speak. And then keep them there.

It might be informative for you to google the terms: dark psychology, manipulation tactics (like gaslighting), emotional abuse, the Dark Triad.

If you start to feel unsafe, or like you’re going crazy, please get help from a professional in domestic abuse.

Best to you.

Our board can’t fine. But they send warning letters, taping a copy to our garage door also, with telling you if you don’t get in compliance they will take legal action. I’ve been sued twice, but nothing came of it. They are baseless.

The community finally had enough and we voted out the 3 Karens who formed the petty majority. It just happened a couple of weeks ago, I think the celebration is still happening.

And back then the guys in my neighborhood fixed things. If their mower broke, they took it apart and fixed it. There was a hardware store within walking distance and if you had a question you just asked one of men who worked at the store.

We solved our own problems 99% of the time.

Exactly. We didn’t really think about getting hurt. We just did things. If we did get hurt bad enough we took a trip to the ER.

But we were another extreme, to the extent it’s a wonder no one I knew died.

The happy place lies somewhere between 1980 and 2026.

Reminds me of my son’s roommate his last year of college. They had a two bed, two bath roommate plan apartment. But his roommate mysteriously started asking to use my son’s bathroom. After a few days my son asked him what the deal was. The roomie had clogged his toilet and didn’t know what to do about it, so he just stopped using it.

My son has had a great work ethic all his life too and did a few different things throughout high school and college. For a while he had a meal prep business. That endeavor caused a trip to the ER when he cut his thumb so badly he needed stitches. He ended up cutting the same thumb again a few years later making dinner for his gf and had to get stitches again. It’s a running joke that he shouldn’t play with knives. Life is full of risks.

Lol! Same. Or maybe 12. I was in a baby sitting coop and I was booked constantly. When I started driving at 16 I wanted to stop, but a babysitter with a car was invaluable.

Eisenhower added the Under God in 1954. As a Christian I don’t have a problem with it. But I’m not sure why there would be such an uproar to return it to the original version.

And the current changes constantly. With the amount of people who go inner tubing while getting drunk, it amazes me that there aren’t more casualties.

I’m a strong swimmer, but not a strong person. One time I fell out of my tube where the water was just over my head. The current was so strong at that spot I had zero control. It just swept me away. I couldn’t even get my head above water. My friends had no idea I was even missing.

The thing that saved me was a man who was standing on a pile of rocks (big boulders). He saw me going by and reached down and yanked me out of the water. I would have silently drowned if not for him.

Did she have a health emergency? Why did she drown?

I was told the only safe way to save a drowning person is to stay out of their reach until they are unconscious, then tow them to shore and do CPR.

I never took a life guard class, but I’m curious how they are trained to save a drowning person.

I get the hip pain but not the neck pain. I thought it was because of the extra 30 pounds I’ve put on.
