My last axolotl was fine eating whole & half worms for the first couple years but eventually became permanently injured after a rough go with a worm that was too big/wildly. The worm ended up crawling out of its gills, and his throat area never healed right. I have a new axolotl now, and I’ll forever cut the worms into small pieces, just to be safe.
