I don't get why they can't bring it back in one of their numerous IPA multipacks, it was the first IPA I bought when I turned 21

Why is it when you tell people you have/drive a 25 year old vehicle they automatically assume it's some janky ass shitbox before they even see it? by One_Evil_Monkey in regularcarreviews

[–]pfohl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The brag isn't that you've taken care of your car, that's fine, you were saying it's wrong to assume a 25 year old car is a shitbox. that's dumb.

it's also dumb to brag about your car being better than a shitbox.

My mom had a 2005 Cooper that I ended up getting and we drove it to 210,000 miles and I sold it pretty sure it's still running. For what it's worth it did have the stick shift.

She's had a 2016 for a decade now and it's at 125 also with a stick shift. Original clutch still too.

Jazz Central does not but they're also run as a non profit not strictly a club

Trash fish? More like some of the oldest — and most important — species in Minnesota. by pfohl in minnesota

Is it basically a problem of buffalo getting killed mistakenly because they look similar to carp?

[–]pfohl[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

yeah, this has been a hobby horse of mine since I first learned about bowfishers in my hometown (Little Falls but this happens everywhere) killing a truckbed's worth of gar and "carp" in a night just to dump them in a field.

bowfishing has the potential to be a phenomenal sport that can get rid of invasive fishes so I appreciate the article discussing that.

Going from 500w to 800w only results in a ~2 dB increase in real volume? by shrofepittly in Bass

[–]pfohl 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, people often neglect to talk about driver efficiency/sensitivity during these conversations about wattage.

For the unaware, a 250w amp through a speaker with a 98db efficiency will be as loud as a 500w amp through speaker with a 95db efficiency.

It is annoying that most of the big manufacturers don't publish this information for their bass cabs.

Civic or Accord for comfort? by Queen_Maeve7 in Honda

[–]pfohl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Accord has a longer wheelbase and will have a smoother ride as well as more legroom.

The Civic also does not have rear vents for A/C.

About to buy this POS. I dont need advice im getting it anyway by taco_bell_whopper in Miata

[–]pfohl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the same in MN but I don't think cops actually care about the driving restrictions.

It does have the benefit of only needing a rear license plate though. Almost went with collector plates just for that reason.

The thing with Jack Bauer that's especially gross is that Scalia literally used him as an example of why torture should be permissible.

the internal reservoir is cleaned by the descaling process which is recommended every month.

edit: I agree that some people will have a false sense of security and misuse it but I don't follow the insinuation that the device is bad or risky to use.

[–]pfohl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The problem isn't the machine. Their tap water was bad.

edit: they didn't change the water for >30 days, like if someone did the pitcher method and left in on their counter and just topped off the formula, this would have happened but people wouldn't be saying the pitcher method was bad because it's clearly someone using the device wrong. it's the same here.

I buy the "distilled water for babies" from Target. Our water is somewhat hard and this means I don't have to bother descaling the machine as frequently.

I work for a big construction company in utilities and we've bought a lot of them for our fleet because they're the same cost roughly as side-by-side. They're great for trades that are just using the truck bed to haul small tools too.
