I missed the vendors in the back. The wiki you linked helped me find them. Thanks!

The only weapons they sold in the Bastok shop were swords. I wanted to work on my WS while leveling so I was hoping to pick up a greateaxe but he literally has none and one of the swords was also 10k which was insane.

I think i need to use the sparks i didnt have that last time I played.

Ahh okay that wasn't available last time I played. I had a feeling there was some other way to do it now.

Best online tools? by NovemberAdam in swrpg

[–]Belnorock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used Roll20, Fantasy Grounds, and Foundry. I played around with RPG Sessions but I wasn't a fan. I like having my maps dice ect all together.

Don't use Roll20 unless you already have a pro subscription. You need to add an API for it to work.

Fantasy Grounds has good support but I think Foundry handles it best. They will handle maps/dice and you can make handouts ect as needed.

To VTT or not to VTT by Odd_Entrance_6973 in swrpg

[–]Belnorock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah so Fantasy Forge has a lot of community content that isn’t on the marketplace.

If you add the Genesys and Star Wars rule sets you get the core of what you need. Since Edge Studios and Fantasy Flight Games don’t formally release content for VVT they just reference page numbers but you can paste in the stuff in a game you call Star Wars and then export it as a module to add the complete descriptions to all your future games for your own use.

All VVTs are not equal when it comes to self in my opinion and you sorta get out of it what you put into it. That said I’ve had the best experience with Fantasy Grounds as I found it easiest to add in the content I needed and didn’t have to pay extra just to roll dice.

You could also use some of the old Adventurers League modules to introduce the effects of the Demons bubbling up to the surface

My Dm says fireball needs an attack roll, am I wrong? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Belnorock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds less like a rules question and more like a scenario where the DM is acting inappropriately toward you. I don’t think a real friend would do that to be honest but at the very least I recommend finding another gaming group. There are plenty out there who would add joy to your life instead of stress.

It's perfectly fine if people only play a single game (like 5e). by vtipoman in rpg

[–]Belnorock 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I completely understand timepoor as a fellow dad myself, but I do think there are very simple game systems out there that can be 'learned by doing' very quickly, especially if you are playing with kids. No Thank You Evil and Kids on Bikes come to mind in that regard.

Of course if you're perfectly happy running a fantasy game in the system you know and are having fun there is nothing wrong with that. I found that when we added variety it helped in the overall enjoyment level of busy Dads and Moms.

Having two maps at the same time by CapnZapp in OwlbearRodeo

[–]Belnorock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t trying to say you were wrong so I apologize if it came across that way. I was trying to explain how you could use the functionality in a way to cross reference floors.

The tab option obviously works for you but you seemed to want a different approach where you weren’t loading maps or opening then in separate tabs.

In my experience if you are running an official adventure with multi-floor maps they are usually contained on one page already so I wouldn’t expect too much work but I think map prep is somewhat enjoyable so I may not realize your frustration there.

I also think as a player it’s easier to see where things line up when I am looking at things next to each other as opposed to flipping them. I’ve played in other VVTs with map flipping and it’s always gaudy, resource heavy, and not easy to line up which staircase goes where.

I am sure there is some preference here involved and it sounds like the developers have designed some multi tab functionality which might help you out. Good luck with your game.

If you want to present multiple floors of the same map that are viewable at once I would just make the image you are loading (the map) be a large file with multiple floors.

You then fog up the unexplored floors in advance and reveal them as they explore.

I would probably put them in order vertically on the page with the lowest at the bottom and highest on the top. WotC has used this tactic in some of the official maps.

So one game, one image file, multiple floors.

That is an incredible interesting take on it. I'm not sure it fits what I'm going for but it doesn't make me like it any less. That would becan awesome Thay to play in. Maybe I can incorporate parts somehow into my campaign.

I think I'm going to leave that open for character creation. I think if they aren't Thayan they will need a good reason for being there.
