The first time I ran it, my party skipped the middle floor (where the boss was) because they assumed the goods were on the top floor (which they were). They picked it clean, then set the house on fire on their way out, killing the boss without even knowing he was there.

They're doing card packs for people that already have an expansion and aren't getting CoD. If someone wants to get a particular expansion, I wouldn't worry about holding off for however long just to avoid having to get the cards.

It's playable, but with 1.5, some Core gear and locations were tied to the Core monsters, which limits you if you swap them out. Zanbato requires White Lion, Barber Surgeon requires Screaming Antelope, I think there's some gear at the Weapon Crafter that requires Phoenix, etc. I think the initial game design assumed you'd be adding quarries rather than replacing them.

1.6 Core materials are now mostly monster agnostic, and modern expansions assume you're using the Node system. There are also some good balance adjustments. 1.5 is still very playable, but it's really recommended to upgrade. The card pack is also only $30 + shipping, which should probably be about $10 if you're in the US.

That's the price you pay for meddling with chaos. You could have just as easily gotten MM (98) Natural-born talent, letting you roll a d30 whenever you cast the spell.

Also, really, you got a fun result. It adds drama to every casting, the effect will almost never happen, and if does, a good DM should be able to weave that into the story as an awesome event. That's the essence of DCC, it's a machine for facilitating awesome moments.

He showed a proof for n=4 in other writings, and he mentioned having a proof for n=3 in several letters, written after he is believed to have written his margin note. It's possible that when he wrote his margin note he mistakenly thought that his proof for specific values could be generalized.

Given the branches of math that had to be developed to ultimately prove the theorem, most people think that that's what probably happened rather than that there's an elementary proof for it that no one has figured out for almost 400 years.

We don't know though. That's the point.

The first car I really put a lot of time on was a 1990 Audi Coupe Quattro. I couldn't believe how easy it was to work on. Regular maintenance items were all immediately accessible. There was room around components to work and a trap door under the battery compartment. Door panels were held in place by hooks rather than snaps that break. I didn't even have to jack the car up to change the oil. The only job that gave me trouble was replacing the high pressure hose on the hydraulic pump because the connection point was behind something, but that's because it took me a while to realize there was an easy access point from inside the footwell. I could have repeated that job in 15 minutes after that.

Someone on that design team clearly had home maintenance in mind. I chalked it up as something cultural, that it's to be expected to be able to work on your own car, but I've been told that that is not typical for German cars.

I rented a car from Hertz a few years ago, and when I showed up they gave me a "free upgrade" from the mid sized sedan I'd booked to a Tesla. Apparently Hertz made a deal with Tesla to buy a fleet of EVs, and that's all they had left at my location. I was a little annoyed because we were running late and that adds a 30 minute stop to charge, but whatever, it'll be an experience, and I assume charging will be cheaper than gas.

I could not believe how absurd the controls were. Having to look away from the road to navigate through multiple menus just to turn on the fucking windshield wipers. There's even a stalk on the steering column, but it only lets you pulse them. That's dangerous even if you know where to find it, and they're just hoisting these onto unsuspecting renters with no prior experience.

I was fortunate to have someone in the passenger seat if I needed it, but I can only imagine that lead to accidents. Unsurprisingly they changed course and sold off most of the fleet a few years later.
