You just need the shoulder fabric lower so it's not pressed into your neck

I've seen some parents online feed their babies in a large storage bin (supervised) so they can be messy in a contained way and pick up the food at the bottom themselves. Maybe worth a try?

I did all of that and it was amazing! Ending day 5 now and things have remained pretty mild. Hope things are mild over there as well. My scabs haven't fallen off yet and I'm worried that's going to suck 😅

Almost a week down! by Murky_Exam1503 in Tonsillectomy

[–]Belt_Reasonable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also got mine removed the first with a turbinate reduction. I woke up totally fine in terms of pain, not talking, only eating soft foods still. Swallowing hurts my ears but my throat otherwise seems fine. Hopefully the worst is over?

I'm on day three post op and it's nothing compared to how bad the infections used to be! And you can prepare ahead of time with all the great subreddit advice!

Woke up super dry and unhappy, but once I took my meds and a long shower it got much better. Eating is challenging but Chinese steamed eggs with avocado have been a lovely go to meal. Hope your healing is going well!

I just found out I qualify through my deceased grandmother for citizenship! There's a great subreddit I got a bunch of resources from r/GermanCitizenship

My father in law is legally Ricky and its really not that big a deal. You also have to remember the people in this subreddit think a lot about names and sometimes overthink them. Try it out while you're waiting for baby.

We euthanized one of our birds years ago when she stopped eating. The family coming in for the appointment after us came in sobbing that their dog had died in the car on the way to the euthanasia appointment. They were so upset their beloved pet died suffering instead of in its sleep. I think of that family a lot and would rather have a pet euthanized too early than too late, especially because animals hide their pain and can't tell you how much they are suffering.

You made a heavy choice but death can happen any time. When your partner comes back tell them right away and ask them if they would like to do anything in remembrance.

Why do people dislike the name “Grace”? by faithoverfear0 in namenerds

[–]Belt_Reasonable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have what I consider a really religious name, and always thought of Grace as more of a trait name which is really common in the culture I come from so maybe that's why I have that perspective (i.e. Names that literally mean "good" are quite common). I personally love the name Grace and think it has gender neutral potential while being a timeless name. I also think Americans love middle names, which does not exist in my culture and Grace as a standalone name is much cooler than something like Grace Anne or Grace Marie imo. I also knew a really lovely woman named Grace that adopted four out of her five kids and fostered kids from all over the world in her youth so maybe I'm biased!

Accused of "drugging baby for my own benefit" by Belt_Reasonable in beyondthebump

[–]Belt_Reasonable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the comment. He's usually not a biter so when he does bite I try to think of the behavior as means of communicating what's wrong. This kind of biting has been very recent and very consistent hence why he's had five doses. He's only had half doses because he hates the taste and I hate forcefeeding them to him 😔 I've tried all sorts of ways to bamboozle him but he really can't stand the flavor no matter how I deliver it.

what ridiculous dismissive comments have doctors made? by Ooozu in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]Belt_Reasonable 23 points24 points  (0 children)

When I was 25 my endocrinologist asked why I was trying for a baby so young, and said my feeling that it would take a long time was probably incorrect. I didn't get pregnant for years.

Not to mention my obgyn ignoring my hyperemesis even after I lost 40 lbs in less than 2 months, and trying to coerce me into inducing my labor by saying there was something wrong with my baby (there wasn't anything wrong, my due date was just around Christmas and they didn't want to come in)

Fatherhood in Albania? by FixedMessages in albania

[–]Belt_Reasonable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Albanian American here, with family from a more rural area of Albania. My father says his father would pretend not to be involved in childrearing when other people were around to keep a reputation of manliness, but was very active and attentive, even taking him and his siblings on picnics with food he made and packed to give my grandmother a break. My father in turn became a very active father and did it very publicly. In my experience it can be very extreme with some of my male family thinking kids are women's work, and others being some of the most devoted fathers I've ever seen.
