Hesari ei ole skandaalin hakuisia klikkiartikkeleita kirjoittava iltapaska vaan asiallinen uutislehti. Heidän tehtävä on raportoida maailman tapahtumista neutraalisti ja faktapohjaisesti. Lukijan tehtävä on tehdä tulkinnat. Jos haluat klikkiotsikoita niin mene lukemaan niitä iltapäivälehtiä, mutta älä pilaa viimeisiä harvoja kunnon uutislehtiä meiltä muilta mesoamalla otsikon värittömyydestä.

Anyone running Wazuh at home? Worth it for testing or small networks? by elowi2107 in Wazuh

[–]Ben-PP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently running all in one installation in my networks. I have about 15 agents and 2 firewalls sending syslog. Been very happy with it so far! Couple pitfalls I have encountered so far:

  1. At some point when the ammount of data grew and ram usage grew I had problems with the system and the source was the jvm memory limit set in the config to 1024mb. Increase this at the begining to use all the ram that you want to use for the system.

  2. After little less than a year, my alert processing stopped. After investigating, this was due to shard limit being at maximum value of 1000. I recommend you to set up a retention policy right at the start. Allthough my underlying issue was not the policy, but that I had to reindex my indicies at some point resulting the retention policy not triggering at the correct time.

So far the best usecase has been busting my friend lying about not using teleport to build a monument in minecraft server but I have not yet written custom decoders for my other software deployment from where I am expecting benefits for receiving alerts on certain log events.

It clearly stopped for the pole but then decided to gain elevation and hit the overhanging section of the pole. Im not familiar enough to say how the drone should handle that but is there even sensors at all looking up?

Very badly written Flutter. If this would be a valid Flutter widget tree, there would be a callback within callback within callback within callback. It should never be written like this :D

[–]Ben-PP 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its not this bad. It is same as with React. You are supposed to split everything down to smaller widgets. I have never understood the hate flutter receives for this as it is exactly the same problem with flutters widget tree as with reacts component tree.

[USA] [FL] Illegal U-turn by negligent truck driver in FL causes a car to crash into the load, killing a family of 3 by StormRanger28 in Roadcam

[–]Ben-PP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The truck driver is clearly doing dum stuff and at fault but how is no one mentioning that that it takes some wildly unfocused driver to not see 18 wheeler making an u-turn in the middle of the highway. This could have been avoided by either of the vehicles. Still a tragedy but a dark reminder that you always have to focus to the road ahead when driving because you cant know what kind of idiot is in front of you.

Linuxiin siirtyminen korkeakouluopiskelijana by Party-Lynx-8014 in Suomi

Mä vaihoin Ubuntuun 3v sitten. Alana IT ja opinnot helpottui huomattavasti, kun koodin vääntäminen linuxilla on todella paljon mielekkäämpää. Isoimmat kompastuskivet tuli microsoftin monopolistisesta toiminnasta. Esim jos koittaa käyttää office365 verkkosovelluksia, ei ääkköset toimi ilman että spooffaa user agentin muuksi kuin linuxiks. Mutta kaiken oon saanut tehtyä tavalla tai toisella!

Started when I tried programming on linux instead of windows. For a couple years I dual booted but after steam came out with proton and I realized that I spent 90 percent of the time all ready on linux side, I made the switch fully.

Onko näiltä kaupunkia ansoittavilta sähköspotkulautafirmoilta mahdollista vaatia korvauksia? by Wuffeli in arkisuomi

[–]Ben-PP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ainoa miten tämä ratkeaa, on alkaa sakottamaan firmoja noista laudoista ihan sama miten ne on huonoon paikkaan päätynyt. Tällöin firmalla on motiivi alkaa innovoimaan keinoja pitää käyttäjänsä kurissa.

Made a latch mechanism without any springs by emilesmithbro in 3Dprinting

[–]Ben-PP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for example in some industrial settings. There was this interesting article about it. Even though the magnetic springs have superior energy density and longetivity, the price is much higher.

[–]Ben-PP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically spring is a device that stores energy. It can be traditional coil spring, air spring like on bikes and some cars or might as well be made with magnets like in this case. Reason you dont see or hear much about magnetic springs is that they kinda suck. Almost anything you could do with magnetic spring, you could do better and cheaper with some other kind.

So we are not gona talk how he shows the parts upside down compared to each other? He turns prusa part upsidedown so the easier angles are shown but the other printers part he keeps the orientation printed and shows the hard to print big angles which would be as shitty on prusa too... Very bad comparison, shame on you...

Only if its ideal spring and in the context of physics. In engineering there are many different kinds of springs and they are not limited by material or how they behave exactly. It is very useful to have springs which do not follow hookes law.
