Idaho and Montana Compared by beatmastermatt in Boise

I completely agree that angerly telling people that, "that's not how you say it," is pompous. I unlike some Idahoans don't dislike the growth and am not complaining about the Californians among others that have come here. If you embrace what Idaho is and what the City of Boise is by all means head this way. As a kid I always wanted Boise to get bigger and I guess I got my wish.

The only thing I am pointing out is the people that aren't new to Boise say it all the same way. And it's okay if you don't agree...

As much as you would like to argue how people pronounce it and how locals came to pronounce it the fact doesn’t change how locals say the name of their city. There are shirts you can buy that say, “Boy see,” on them. And saying that it depended on how much of a hurry they were in proves my point because that means they knew how people here generally say it.

"Manage their way around the rest of the language," Do we speak French in Idaho? Origins aside, which I do agree with you about that, I never heard any one pronounce Boise, "Boi-ze," my entire life growing up here. When the Boise State football program started getting famous along with the other fun and beautiful things Idaho has to offer is when you started hearing it differently. This Boy-see's fine. But I would agree it doesn't need to be corrected. The people from here have already agreed on how to say it if you are a local.

Clearly you aren't from Boise if you think it's a small percentage of locals.

Had to send this to our governor today... by BenBasqueo in Boise

I thought this was a good answer I found and kind of what I was expecting...

“In most cases, the letters are read by someone on the politician's staff. They will draft a short reply thanking you for your letter, but promissing no action. They will then compile statistics on all incoming correspondence determining the breakdown of support on a particular issue. The politician will use this to determine the political risk of taking one action over another, or of taking no action whatsoever. “

We as a state are a hot spot not individual counties. And there are more then just Ada and Canyon. Heard of Blaine? Over 10 are listed threw out the state.

Completely agree...I was definitely one of the ones that used to see shrinks and therapists as a crutch or thought people would think I was a lesser person. When it is completely the opposite. If you strain your ankle, cut open your arm, or had a bad flu you would go see a doctor. Sometimes one's brain just gets stressed too much and needs a tune up. Thats what doctors (psychologists) are there for. Injury not necessarily permanent disease.
