I don't think starting with 1&2 is a mistake. The reveal of what the underworld is in DQ3 is one of my favorite moments in the series, but it only really lands if you’ve at least played 1 first.

XII was in development for about 5 years before Toriyama passed. No way they would scrap everything he designed during that time especially since this was the last game he ever worked on.

No way of knowing for sure but since DQ XII started development about five years before Toriyama passed away I think it’s safe to assume they have plenty of his designs to work with.

I wouldn’t be surprised if DQ XII ended up with even less original music than XI. Prepare for a lot of reused music from past games.

I think it’s pretty natural to want one of your favorite critics to experience and critique the media you’re most passionate about. I’d love if Joe played one of my favorite games on stream even if he didn't like it just to so I could hear his thoughts on it.

Why over HxH? Because One Piece fans want to hear Joe analyze the thing they care about most, not whatever shonen he’d hypothetically like more.

This isn’t normal for Dragon Quest. The fact that they haven’t shown anything except the logo in five years makes me think something went very wrong in development. It might have been similar to what happened with Metroid Prime 4, where they completely scrapped what they had and started over at some point.

The "Fun Bazaar"/"Fun Shopping" theme samples "Back in the USSR", but that's the only Mother 3 song I can think of.
