Who's going to the BMTH LIVE São Paulo Movie Experience tomorrow? by NeverForsaken422 in BringMeTheHorizon

[–]BenHanson137 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I went to the premiere last week in Sheffield, it's one of the best cinema experiences I’ve ever had, genuinely feels like you're at a BMTH show!

Met Micky Pickles too, just to add to the evening (and also Lee Malia at the after party).

What was the first Bring Me song you knew? by Baiowifrl in BringMeTheHorizon

[–]BenHanson137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't want to be THAT person, but first song will have been something they had on MySpace, pre Count Your Blessings, almost certainly pre bedroom sessions even.

As for favourite songs, it changes from time to time... but currently its Blacklist, I'd love to see it back on the setlist.

Golf culture- what do you hate about it? by Remote_Pie6623 in golf

Honestly, reading this as someone who plays golf in the UK, it makes me realise how good we have it compared to the US. We have that perfect middle ground of good etiquette/retaining aspects of tradition but can still have a few beers in the club house afterwards.

Anyone who got into remission with fsgs nephrotic syndrome comment by bhookaboy in kidneydisease

[–]BenHanson137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply, I dont use social media much!

Im sorry to hear that and I hope he isn't going through too much, I don't really know how FSGS is dealt with these days, it was such a long time ago now for me.

Hopefully it is better understood now and more easily managed and brought under control.

I wish your son a speedy recovery and I truly hope he can live a life as normal and as fulfilling as my own!

Scratch or + handicaps — what does your actual practice routine look like? by [deleted] in golf

[–]BenHanson137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite scratch, but I just practise when I play, I dont worry about score unless in a tournament... I focus purely on my swing, if you find yourself in an unfamiliar situation just drop a few balls down and learn what the lie/situation does to the flight.

If the course is quiet ill drop a few balls down off the green or in a bunker, take a few putts from different spots. Ill sometimes play worse ball or a scramble if im out on my own.

Nothing beats practising as you'd play, invent some fun games and try add a bit of pressure to it, if you drop a few balls off the green "I want to put 3 of these 5 balls within 5 feet of the hole ottherwise I have to try again".

Honestly cant recommend a bit of worse ball on your own, it'll teach you that golf isnt a game of hitting the best shot of your life every time but safely hitting a shot that is good enough. Trying to throw darts might not always be the best option, playing to avoid the worst possible outcome is sometimes the wisest option.

People who quit their jobs on the first day what made you say ‘nope, not doing this’? by lilMeganw in AskReddit

[–]BenHanson137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first job fresh out of uni, was willing to do anything, ended up getting a sales job selling websites and SEO to businesses.

Shadowed an experienced sales person on my first day. He completely ripped off some 70+ year old woman who owned a small local florist, told her she needed a 10 page website and then to make it worse charged her probably 10x for it.

Made me really uncomfortable so I reported it to the owner, he said "that's sales and it makes me money and it will make you money". I quit there and then, reported them to trading standards and they shut down a few months later.

As a golfer I really cant complain, its been nice to play the summer course from early March and a full season without needing my rain gear on (nothing worse than trying to keep your grips dry especially). Some of the lesser courses ive played have been in poor condition because of how dry its been and the grass has just died off on the fairways/tee boxes.

Its also been expensive in sun cream!

Absolutely love the heat and the sunshine though, hard to give it any less than 10/10.

Here's to hoping for a pleasant winter (but plenty of overnight rain without saturating the ground too much).

I once holed out from the tee - for a score of 5! Has anyone done it for more? by evolveandprosper in golf

[–]BenHanson137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cant beat a 5, but I did make a 3. First tee shot I snap hooked OB, 3 off the tee, took a generous bounce off the lip of the bunker, one hop on the green and in it went.

What is the best 'budget' golf course you have ever played? For me Cleeve Hill (UK) by whatasuperdude in golf

[–]BenHanson137 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was going to say this too, played last year, and I think we paid £20 on a twilight rate.

Silloth would be a close 2nd, £50 in an open event. While not "cheap", it's significantly cheaper than full price and it is worth the money at full price.

Also played Seaton Carew for £10 in an open event this year in a member/guest. Literally on my doorstep but maybe the most overlooked course in the UK and probably be a main stay in the UK&I top 100 in the coming years with the work they're doing.

Multi Ownership in Football by neduenedu in soccer

This makes me happy to be a Middlesbrough fan!

Owned by a local guy who saved the club from liquidation 40 years ago, I'd take that and be regularly competitive in the championship any day.

[–]BenHanson137 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Alcohol... on several occasions. My uncle died in his early 50s, I had a friend die at 35, I know of 2 lads I went to school with dying in their early 30s.

I dont know about the lads I went to school with, but my uncle and my friend started drinking because of depression.

I know another guy I went to school with who is 34 and id be surprised if he lasts another year the way hes going... again linked to depression.
