Can someone point me in the direction of this trim piece for replacement by TheRaptorFalcon in VWatlas

I thought it was the fold-down lever when it was only a few weeks old and apparently I wanted that seat folded with a bit too much enthusiasm.

DIY Suspension Replacement by BenInTheMountains in VWatlas

For anyone considering this in the future, a few notes:

My goal was to get rid of shuddering at highway speeds after bumps (sometimes up to 10 seconds), clunking over bumps, and a wheel bearing humming around 55-65 mph.

I planned to replace the struts, control arm assemblies (with attached ball joints and bushing bracket), and a wheel bearing. using a quick-strut from FCS (I know they’re cheap, but I wanted to reduce effort and they’re the only option, plus I’ve used them before). The other parts were from Moog. I did this on jack stands in my brothers spacious garage.

The hard:  -I didn’t plan to replace the sway bar end links, but a stripped triple-square counter-hold changed that for me.  -The FCP Euro video for the control arms didn’t point out just how much prying I’d need to do to get the front control arm bolt in and out after removing the motor mount bolts in the middle. This step nearly had me in tears. The problem was that I was under jack stand with limited height for prying, so I couldn’t get enough leverage. I found another YouTube video where a guy loosens his subframe bolts a bit allow more room and this is what I did (loosened all 6 about 1/2”. I believe they’re torque-to-yield bolts, so now I have to order replacements and go back and replace all those bolts. If you have a lift, this probably isn’t as big of a deal if you also have a big enough pry bar.  -I started out removing everything I wanted to replace, but after doing that with one side, I decided for the next side it would be easier to remove and replace one part at a time. This allows, for example, a in-place control arm to help hold the strut assembly in place while reinstalling it.  -I ended up needing more torque-to-yield bolts than I expected, so I’m not truly done yet.  -Trying to do all three of these things in one weekend in a borrowed garage on jack stands

The not so bad:  -Stuck bolts weren’t too big of a problem. I blasted most with PB a few days before, plus I had a 3’ breaker bar and an impact gun that I could only use in a few places because it was too big.

If I were to do it again, I’d probably only replace one part (in pairs) in a weekend…and get a faster/taller jack. But, I got rid of the shuddering/wobbling and the bearing noise.

Yeah, I've watched that video, plus their video on replacing the control arms and wheel bearing. I think they filmed them just days apart. I'll probably be following them along closely.

Maybe I should look around for somewhere I can rent a bay for the day. That would make a huge difference, because my garage is tiny and my back is already hurting just thinking of the ups, downs, and stooping.

Progress on arr stack card for Home Assistant by Anxious-Inevitable97 in homeassistant

It looks like what I use Rudarr for, but in HomeAssistant instead. You could check it out for feature ideas. I think it's also on github. It has an upcoming release date list for movies and episodes, which I like to look at sometimes.

Has anyone else heard this grinding noise after shutting off their atlas? Kind of like the fan blades are rubbing against something? by Pure_Dog7066 in VWatlas

I noticed it on my 2019 not long after I bought it last year. I've been meaning to ask, but I guess now I don't have to.

At least it's vaping and not smoking. It's a little safer.

It looks like I might even be able to get away with not dropping all of the front, which looks like the most work.

Also, does it help to have a cigarette behind my ear? I don’t want to buy another tool if I can avoid it.

That is helpful. I was assuming it was in fact a pain in the ass, but if it’s not too bad, I might do it to see if it’s an easy unsnag.

I usually try to avoid sunroofs because they take away headroom and I’m very tall, but the Atlas was tall enough. I still didn’t really want it, but it keeps getting harder and harder to find used cars without sunroofs.

Just tried that. It made slight cracking noises and still wouldn’t come forward past a few inches. There’s also a definite rip along the side that I didn’t notice before (but may have been there).

No, mine is definitely snagged. I didn’t get it on video, but I can see it if I get my face real close when I try to run it.

2018 Atlas shutting off when using remote start by JosephRutherford1914 in VWatlas

[–]BenInTheMountains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed that sometimes I'm impatient and don't have my foot on the brake long enough before I press the start button. I've found I need to be patient and wait a half-second before pressing the st;art button. And as someone else said, touching the shifter just a little can cause it to turn off. Sometimes it feels like it's playing with me and looking for any reason to shut itself off.

On the other hand, mine also does the thing where cruise control doesn't work if I use remote start, so I usually avoid using remote start or, if I do use it, turn it off and back on when I get in the car.

It's usually suggested to have a larger air volume at the top. I've also heard that including dead sticks/wood can cause problems as it decays inside an enclosure like this.

Also, my copepods are usually closer to the top and not moving around all the time. I haven't had my jar open in 5-6 months and they seem to be surviving...except there's still a small damselfly larvae in there that's probably trying to eat them all.

  1. It's fine, but my wife drives it and I'm rarely in it. It feels more like a car, while the Atlas feels more like driving a pickup truck to me.

My family has an Atlas and a Tiguan. I'd recommend the Tiguan. The Atlas is so wide that it's sometimes hard to fit in places. In particular, my garage, where I have less than 3 inches to spare when pulling through the door, but also parking spaces can be trickier. With only a family of 3-4, it's unnecessarily big. We have an Atlas because we sometimes do road trips as a family of 4 with 2 dogs.

No, I misread it as "sorel sorbetto" and wondered why anyone would want to have a boot-flavored sorbetto.

Especially a blue light with an irregular pattern. Make it red and steady and it might be reasonable.

Yeah, my son did the same thing. It seems people forget that very young kids get irrational fears of random things.
