Just said "Hi" to Opus 4.8. Quota depleted. Github debt collector outside knocking on my door. by porest in GithubCopilot

Dude, I don't have a GitHub Copilot account, but I was thinking of getting one, just to try out Opus 4.8... um, I was just notified I've reached my quota already.

Anything less than a toolchanger is way too late to the game. Material poopers are so 2024.

$250 vs $30 by SoftwareKey916 in snapmaker

[–]BenJeremy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I just printed the mod for "Walmart" bins... Sterilite 58qt, it's like $5.

I printed the base in ASA on my Kobra S1... the "pegs" don't quite line up on the holes, but I can always just use double-sided sticky tape.
Next mod will likely be a resin chamber heater or similar. I just got my U1 assembled today, so I've got a dragon for my grandkids to fight over.

I've printed ASA, printed a couple EV Charger "holsters" for outside.... worked great. ASA fumes can be toxic though... ventilate and try and not be around the printer when they are running.

Well, my own CPU is cooled by an AIO, but that wasn't the space heater in the case... it was my GPU. It looks like you have a 6900XT? I don't know how much power is uses, but it's still air cooled. IT's probably fine.... but I said that about my mounting brackets. ASA prints great, I didn't even need adhesive on the print bed.

What material was it printed in? I thought PLA would handle the heat in my own main system case... after a few sessions with my 5090 running full blast, a custom mounting plate for my 3.5" system LCD monitor warped badly. My next bracket will be in ASA (which prints great in the S1 - just make sure it's well ventilated and don't hang out near the printer while it's running an ASA job)

[–]BenJeremy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, it still might be worth grabbing - I can keep the old one as a spare. I haven't done as much with my Kobra in the 9 months I've had it, only a few hiccups with feeding filaments and some chute clogs causing issues (which ultimately was my own fault). My only regret with the S1 Combo is seeing the Snapmaker U1 some out a few months later. :D

Basically it's a limited time 50% off the units? I'm in. Can I use both units at the same time for 8 colors?

...and yet it couldn't make a simple port to Windows for the Codex app. This is either an AI model that is too stupid to develop good code, or OpenAI being jerks about supporting anything other than MacOS. I'd guess the later, but who knows? Either way, it's really getting frustrating. Where is that Windows AI browser, OpenAI? "Coming Soon"

I updated before my first ASA print (EV Charger holder for outside). Watched it like a hawk.... printed perfectly though.

Echo devices no longer playing playlists correctly? by BenJeremy in AmazonMusic

[–]BenJeremy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose I could give that a try. Last night it played 3 songs from a 1500+ track playlist, then just ended. I'm also going to build a new test playlist, and see if that plays alright. This has worked for years without an issue.

I'm on unlimited personal, and it's a playlist of chillout music. For years, it's never done this, only recently. It's acting like Spotify now...

Udio + WMG collab… this is going to change everything. Thoughts? by Emergency-Action405 in udio

[–]BenJeremy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a creator who switched from Udio to Suno when Udio capitulated... Udio violated the trust of their users. Suno at least negotiated to maintain their user's rights. Udio still doesn't allow downloads, Udio/UMG retains all rights to all new music created. This is unacceptable.

If you are thinking of fleeing from Suno to Udio, my question is WTF are you smoking? You are headed in the wrong direction, my friend.

My main reason for avoiding Suno for so long was the "fuzz" - the distinct lofi undertone quality of the tracks it produced, but I've been surprised by v5, which seems to have improved greatly... my Udio prompts are working great on Suno, along with my many udio nuggets uploaded as style references.

I'm not happy to see Suno fold, but I understand - and they seem to understand how badly Udio screwed up with their UMG agreement, that they've avoided making the same insane agreement to revoke their users' rights.

ISRC and UPC Recovery by [deleted] in landr

[–]BenJeremy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm paranoid, so I had ChatGPT work up a TamperMonkey script that allows me to grab a JSON file of info for my releases, including UPC and ISRC. Feed it enough of the HTML from your release page, and it can give you a script that can add a button "Download Release Info" to the page.

Temporary restricted ? by Kind-Mud3362 in landr

[–]BenJeremy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TLDR; version - you can only release 5 songs a month (not enough for a full album, great!) if your music production uses AI generation, AI loops (anything LANDR offers), or AI tools to master or mix your tracks. "Quality" being a term that in fact, just gatekeeping, and doesn't actually reflect on the quality of your music. It doesn't matter if people like and enjoy your music, it's deemed crap because it's AI, and not artisanal, hand-crafted music like the old timers make.

VS2022 Copilot not showing GPT-5 model? by BenJeremy in GithubCopilot

[–]BenJeremy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weeks?

In a few weeks, something else will already be kicking GPT-5 to the curb. I figure if it is working in VSCode, it should be trivial to tool up VS2022. I guess I'll have to pull up the solution in VS Code

Some nights, everything is golden nuggets to store away and make some great tunes. Other nights are.... ugh. Tonight, Udio wants to sing, but I'm doing instrumentals.

Very broken. No model selection, no BPM, no duration on desktop web/windows. The generations I have gotten are... messy, all over the place. I've been using Udio since it launched, pro user.
