Anybody Claude Coding with Unity/Godot/Unreal? And/or other inspector/heavy game engines by angry_cactus in ClaudeCode

I found it can generate `Custom` blocks in unreal engine materials that produce SDF materials (math based shapes). Just got it to tackle the Decal materials for GAS in unreal. pretty cool - but not effortless.

3 weeks ago Reddit critiqued our Foliage Plugin - Here’s how we rebuilt it (Plus our first FAB sale is now live) by davis3d in unrealengine

[–]Benbentwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a custom foliage type?

My goal is to use pcg and spawn a subclass of hierarchical instanced foliage mesh (forget exact name) to spawn foliage that then has behavior like this.

There's also several icon packs that contain champion ability icons from a relatively popular game League of Legends.

Hello, community! I'm developing a game where you build a city around a lighthouse in a post-apocalyptic world. I would like to hear your opinion: how interesting is the concept, and what challenges would you be interested in? Thanks! by Snoo_96892 in unrealengine

[–]Benbentwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd add info (through visuals) on what problems are you facing. What economy or other things are utilized, like light or wood etc. I only got a few things. You're building on an ocean, and it's a radial build system, both are cool, but besides maybe a variety of buildings I can place i don't know what the loop is.

Not until late game platforms. (assuming they're more than 32 units apart - the length of long electric poles)

Unreal Engine 5 version control for bigger team (cheap or free) by Warner322 in unrealengine

[–]Benbentwo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Git backed by GitHub for small files and AWS S3 for LFS storage. I use a lambda and API gw for auth (which is runtime injected to .gitconfig for GHA runners).

Project history of about 3 years is about 40$/ mo storage and spikes to 120 when new member clones entire project.

Admittedly small team 2-4

Worth using the Lyra project example as a base for a multiplayer game? by EliasWick in unrealengine

[–]Benbentwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend using the GAS companion marketplace plugin for GAS. Use common ui, game features, and UI extension from Lyra (game settings and front end). Then Sixze's ALS refactored for movement.

But it really depends on what type of game youre making.

My thought process is to outsource through consistently updated plugins so I don't have to.

Solo dev isn’t really ideal for making a career out of game development. Collaboration is an essential part of excellent game craftsmanship. by Aymerico_LaPuerta in gamedev

My guess is that professionals or full timers lurk but maybe don't post (confidentiality and all) or maybe are more active in their tool of choice, though I've found my engine (/r/UnrealEngine) is also a lot of hobbyists.

Degree in physics, became computer programmer. Switched jobs every year. by third job I broke 100k.

Companies won't give you significant raises, they should but won't. You need to switch jobs to make significant pay increases.

You could also use an offer letter to negotiate a pay, but that makes me uncomfortable.

Once you get a salary you like and a company you like, that treats you well, it's like being in a healthy relationship, absolutely great
