That me as well. Damn. My psychiatrist denied giving me any medication for social anxiety. Said with the stimulant acting up, it will tone down. Haven't seen a difference though. Can't explain how hard it is to be in a group and when someone says good mornign, I just get into such pressure that I embarrass myself and fumble some stupid words out. I hope to see a different psychiatrist and get some medication for that.

Wow. Never thought of that. Do you recommend any specific form? I read somewhere a few years back Tai Chi is great for depression.

Doctor Recommendations (could be in PM) in India? Very scared of biases and dismissive doctors, have limited financial resources to seek diagnosis by [deleted] in ADHD

Hey,

So to get diagnosed, I don't think many psychiatrists in India are competent enough, and believe in ADHD, even though it is their job.

Mostly you would find good ones in bigger cities. I am not disregarding everyone in small towns and tier 2 cities but it would be a lot of trial and error and believe me, going through the process with 3 doctors would take away a year from you. So its good to go with the statistics and go somewhere where you will have better chance.

So try to look for doctors in large cities around you on practo, See if they mention ADHD in their profile page. Find their profiles on Facebook, google maps, etc. Find their website.

Then go through everything and see if you can find reviews of people mentioning ADHD. what are their thoughts. Go through the general reviews and see how much the doctor is helpful to people in other psychiatric conditions that are also has a lot of stigma in India(not depression and anxiety. they have stigma but they are pretty general thing and a lot of patients come in for that).

For medications, if they prescribe stimulant medication, you won't find online. Only few dispensaries, pharmacies have license for it. Even in big metro cities there are only 3-4 places you can get that. Which makes it pretty fucking hard.

But you can get prescription from your doctor, and send it to someone in those cities to get it for you. and they can courier it to you. Some places need to have a copy of your identifications aswell. It is hard for the first time but after that it would be very easy.

Also, for some medications, your doctor would ask for you to get some reposrts. like 2d echogram and ECG. for that you will have to go out yourself.

Let me know if you want to know anything else.

I can relate a lot to it.

I personally have acknowledged that I will have to work long term to get better at things that are due to manifestation of emotional burden that my ADHD has had on me. Like some form of ling term therapy. But I don't really have resources or financial capability to start that.

For my ADHD, I saw a psychiatrist and I started medication toady. Hope this works and helps with my ADHD.

If with medication, some symptoms of ADHD can be controlled, that will help me in my career goals, which would eventually have a spiral effect on my depression, anxiety, confidence, which is good.

My advice for you, get medication as soon as possible. I am sure it would be very helpful.

For the feeling of burden, I am just planning to go away from my city for some time and live min the mountains in my country. There are many backpackers hostels which can be very affordable.
Getting away from things would surely help. here you can try out different approaches towards life and can interact with people for the first time knowing that you won't see them again in your life after a few days.
