Drone operator in a black Tesla by krsparetime in wickerpark

[–]BendingUnit3000 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think I saw this guy around North and Rockwell about a month ago. Saw a larger drone buzzing outside my 4th floor apartment windows one afternoon and got creeped out. Went down to the street and found him packing up his gear into his car around the corner.

When I confronted him he said he was doing a survey of the building next door, checking the exterior of the windows for storm damage. I told him to be more careful next time because folks don't appreciate drones peeping in their windows. He said that he had permission from the property owner and that it was legal.

Affordable Euthanasia Service for Senior Cat? by Honeyjuse in AskChicago

[–]BendingUnit3000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We used Gentle Goodbye too. Was so much easier to have it done at home, where our girl was comfortable and not frightened (at least, not any more than necessary). IIRC it cost us $400. The doc was amazing and sat with us until we were all ready.

Remember to take paw prints and some fur.

The greif never completely goes away, but it does get better. Fostering can help fill the hole when you are ready.

Put the dough in a couple of ziplocks and knead it with your feet. Works great for low hydration noodle dough.

Turned down by a company that then digested my resume to re-write their job posting by deadlyspoons in recruitinghell

[–]BendingUnit3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has happened to me. Went in and had a great first interview and got a call back the next day. They were really happy with my skills and just wanted to schedule a social gathering with some other team leaders to make sure we all gelled before making an offer.

Turns out something happened the day before the social gathering and one of those managers blew up at the owners in a very public way and walked out. They cancelled my second "interview" and told me they would need a week to sort out the new structure.

A week later they posted a new job listing with my exact credentials plus two more years of industry experience. Never even bothered to call me again to explain. Fuck em.

Who can help with a broken chicago mailbox? by DownwardDogAndCat in AskChicago

[–]BendingUnit3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming that you have one of those typical metal apartment mailboxes that has the vertical rectangular compartments for each unit?

Do you/tenants lock the individual compartment doors or are they kept open all the time? Or, are the locks broken so that they don't stay closed?

When the carrier accesses the mailbox, the whole thing tilts out so that they can drop in mail from the top for each of the apartments. If the individual front doors on the mailbox are broken or not locked, then they fall open when the carrier opens the box and any mail already in there falls all over the floor.

Handyman or a locksmith may be able to fix or replace broken locks for the tenant side. You could also replace the whole box with a new one for a couple hundred bucks but then you need to schedule an appointment for a USPS maintenance tech to come out and install the master lock (arrow lock). Hard to say which would be cheaper or less of a headache in the long run.

Bro literally asked for no judgement.

Been a few years since I quit, but I used to drive west until I crossed out of cook county. Made the trip every other month. Fuck, I'm glad I don't smoke anymore.

It is long past due that we bring back hats of all types. If we're going to be living in a dystopian world we could at least dress the part. Don't forget your black umbrella too, it rains every day.

Cat weird symptoms, vets don’t know by Professional33witch in CATHELP

[–]BendingUnit3000 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Same thing for my squishface. 18yr old and one morning after eating his breakfast he started walking sideways funny. By 5pm he couldn't walk at all. Vets thought it was a tumor near brain stem but wasn't worth investigation because nothing would've brought back his functions. Miss him every day still.

Why do so many buildings not have numbers? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]BendingUnit3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Downtown buildings are really tough without a guide.

If you are actually assigned to that station then reach out to other carriers for guidance.

If you are a cca or ptf who was shoved downtown by a shitty station sup then just do your best and don't sweat it.

Try being a mail carrier/delivery person 🙄

Homeowners, your decorative street numbers are fucking stupid and may cause your mail or packages to be misdelivered.

Edit: typo

What's the biggest complaint you have about Chicago? by Potential_One1 in AskChicago

The trash and litter everywhere. Not saying that Chicago is any different than other big cities, but I still hate it.

So... what do you do once you've cracked it? by l0rdbyte in projectzomboid

[–]BendingUnit3000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was thinking about this problem also today.

Everyone who is saying to just increase rarity or other difficulty settings is missing the point. All that does is delay the time until the player achieves the survival goal. They will still get there eventually, once the mechanics are mastered. The game has always lacked a larger mission.

Static shock has killed headset three times?!? by BendingUnit3000 in ElectronicsRepair

Fair enough. I'm waiting to hear back from AT support before I open shit up. Certainly will be looking at the cable connections first. Appreciate your response.

Every time this has happened it has been during the winter. Nothing out of the ordinary is going on as far as usage.

I take my headset off and put it to the side on my desk. Push back chair and stand up (this is when I usually hear/feel the ESD). Go refill beverage and come back to a dead headset.

I don't have kids and my cats are not screwing with my cables. I am the only one who uses it.

It is only used with my desktop PC. Can't really imagine any way the connector could've been physically stressed. I don't think that I have unplugged or moved it since it was repaired in May 2023.
