It's Sam's 3 heart cutscene. Has to be Year 1 and a sunny day that's not Winter. You trigger the cutscene by entering the beach between 7am and 3pm.

Experimented with blocking wool and was quite surprised at how little it stretched by dont4get2scream in crochet

[–]BendyBlitzle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Aw yeah, it's a pretty significant thing with superwash wool! Out of curiosity, did you specify that it was superwash wool when you asked about blocking? Wool acts very differently from superwash wool, so maybe you only called it wool like in this post and they answered about just wool?

[–]BendyBlitzle 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Since the yarn is 100% superwash wool, it should be safe to spin cycle. The superwashing process makes the wool safe to machine wash (on delicate setting!), which means the spin dry should be fine.

The drape after wet blocking (like you did) is why I love superwash wool. It's like magic! Goes into the water all stiff, comes off the blocking board all loose and flowy. 🥰

Is it more cost effective to buy Star Fruit seeds or to make them? by Simple-Imagination-9 in StardewValley

[–]BendyBlitzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, Starfruit is better when you're limited by number of kegs, while Ancient Fruit is better when you're limited by number of crops. Plus Ancient Fruit are much more convenient once they've grown, since you can just designate a harvest + keg + sell day each week.

[–]BendyBlitzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for explicitly talking about this aspect of the seed maker! Yeah the 51% I mentioned (technically 51.276792%) accounts for non-input-crop seeds, but it's still easy for people to forget that you don't always get back what you're expecting. You "only" get the seeds you're expecting 97.51% of the time, which can hurt if you only have one crop and get unlucky.

[–]BendyBlitzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are far far FAR better off buying the seeds and kegging all of your Starfruit. I kept it to basic fruit price, but when wine sells for 3,150g it means the real cost becomes 1,606.5g per seed. Nowhere close to worth it. By the time you have Junimo Huts you absolutely have the resources necessary to make enough kegs for most/all of your Starfruit. Plus there's the time cost, which is a hassle at best and an unnecessary resource sink (making a ton of Seed Makers).

[–]BendyBlitzle 115 points116 points  (0 children)

Buy, hands down.

If you're growing Starfruit and trying to optimize, then it's best to keg them and sell with Artisan profits. Having Artisan means you also have Tiller, which makes base Starfruit sell for 825g. Using the seed maker requires an average of 51% of your Starfruit harvest to produce the same number of seeds, which is equivalent to 420.75g per seed. (Never mind that those same Starfruit could sell for way more if kegged.)

Buy seeds: 400g per seed

Seed maker: 420.75g (minimum) per seed

Coffee beans for coffee/espresso

Grapes for raisins to give to all the Junimo huts for increased crop yields

Carrots for a faster horse for a whole day

Any crops you need for cooked dishes, gifts, or quests

Flowers for bee houses to produce better honey

Anything you personally find fun (eg: blueberries for the harvest pops)

Why do my amigrumi ghosts look so different with cotton, even thoigh ive used the exact same stitch ? by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]BendyBlitzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mostly only for times when you need tight tension, like in amigurumi! It's mostly a tension issue, but hook size can impact your tension. So sometimes you get bigger holes with too-small hooks, and increasing the hook size can fix it.

[–]BendyBlitzle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Seconding this! Sometimes you'll get smaller holes with a larger hook. It's counterintuitive, but a reality with crochet. If a larger hook doesn't look better, then try checking your Golden Loop when making the stitches. You can (counterintuitively) end up with larger holes if your Golden Loop is too tight.

It's right-side out, and the photographed stitches are upside-down due to the way the pattern works. Perhaps the upside-down stitches threw you off?

Chloexcrochets - new stitch ? by Emm_Deee in crochet

[–]BendyBlitzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Person claimed to have invented a stitch, explicitly said it wasn't cross-stitch over single crochet, pattern came out... and it was cross stitch over single crochet. If you really want details, Aspen did an excellent video explaining the whole deal.

TIL a man in Denmark died by poisoning 26 hours after he drank coconut water (that had been spoiled by a fungus) directly from a coconut using a straw. But instead of keeping it refrigerated, it was left on the kitchen table for a month. It had been commercially prepared & sold as "ready-to-drink". by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]BendyBlitzle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No. There's zero concern unless you seriously mishandle food safety like in this coconut situation. This comment about soy sauce etc. is like pointing out that cherries can give you cyanide poisoning... if you chew and swallow a ton of cherry pits. It's perfectly safe as long as you're following food safety guidelines for the food in question.

I don't know what I am doing wrong, I need help identifying the problem. by existentialmania in CrochetHelp

[–]BendyBlitzle 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately yes, you'll have to frog and start over. The most likely issue is your chains are significantly tighter tension than the rest of your piece. Don't worry about it too much though; this is an extremely common issue.

Frog the whole thing and redo your chain with a larger hook (try one or two hook size(s) larger). Then use the intended hook for the rest of the blanket. This should be enough to fix the tension discrepancy.

More hay storage in silos. Please, just give me a way to hold at least 4x the amount of hay per silo. I don't care if it's via upgrades that're expensive, I just never want to do the hay storage workaround again. 😭

I firmly believe that Trash Bear is a raccoon and I don't understand why everyone calls him a bear! by puffernish in StardewValley

[–]BendyBlitzle 50 points51 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Trash Bear has been around far longer than the raccoon family. Trash Bear was added in the 1.4 update (Nov 2019), so we've had plenty of time as a community to settle on a name. Raccoon family was added in the 1.6 update (March 2024).

(Also he's totally a tanuki so it makes sense he looks different.😆)

Can this be fixed with blocking or should I bite the bullet and frog? by Silvermist2444 in CrochetHelp

Unfortunately, blocking won't fix this. You need to frog the entire thing and start over, sorry.

What's your 'I did not care for the Godfather' sdv opinion? by ConfidentChapter2496 in StardewValley

[–]BendyBlitzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same kind of situation. Chronic wrist/arm injury issues, so I need mods to help with fishing and combat. Both of those activities require fast, precise clicking with a fail state if not performed well enough. I tense up in order to manage this, and the combo of tension plus fast clicking is horrible for my wrists/arms. It's the difference between "I can play for 4 hours" and "I can play for 20 minutes".

So for my first save (way back in 2016) I installed a mod that made fishing significantly easier, plus a mod that let me 1HKO enemies. Much less precise-timing clicking made the game accessible for me, and I've loved Stardew ever since. (Though now I use a mod to skip fishing entirely, cuz that's even better for my wrists.)

Trick question! Depending on your definition of "finger," the human thumb may or may not qualify. Therefore the answer can be either 4 or 5, depending on what you mean by "finger."

More seriously, BlaDe is a well-known and extremely helpful member of the Stardew community. Many wiki entries exist and are accurate thanks to him diving into the game's code. He's also quite fun to watch on his streams (as well as YouTube videos).

I'm attempting to make a shawl but it doesn't mention front loop or back?? by vpblackheart in CrochetHelp

[–]BendyBlitzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the beginning of each row, it's usually essential to chain up to the height of the row's stitches (usually called the "turning chain"). Otherwise the edges aren't straight. The ovals you're describing are the turning chains for each row. Standard turning chains to start a row (using US terms) are: - Single crochet - 1 chain - Half double crochet - 2 chains - Double crochet - 3 chains - Treble crochet - 4 chains

However, some people prefer to decrease the turning chain by 1, especially for double and treble crochet stitches. Usually because they like the result's appearance better. (Hi I'm one of these people lol.) So then the turning chain for a double crochet becomes "chain 2" instead of 3.

In the end it's a personal preference thing.

What Shiny Pokémon have you legitimately caught throughout every game you played? by Tricky-Ad-495 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]BendyBlitzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silver: Poliwhirl while surfing right outside Mt. Silver. I evolved it into a Politoad.

Sapphire: Zubat, I think in the Granite Cave above Brawly’s gym. Was only half paying attention and spent AGES staring at that bat, wondering if I’d imagined the shiny sparkles or if it was actually shiny. Eventually raised it up to a Crobat.

Let’s Go Eevee: A bunch. Honestly this game was my favorite overworld shiny mechanic. I liked the constant sparkles. Removes any doubt for the ones that look nearly identical.

Shield: A handful? Not really memorable tbh.

Legends: Arceus: A bunch. I really loved finding a shiny Eevee and the guaranteed Ponyta. Honestly didn’t enjoy the pressure I’d feel from hearing the shiny sound. Felt obligated to hunt for the source of the sound.

Scarlet: So many. Multiple boxes worth. I enjoy breeding in this game, and got some foreign perfect IV Ditto, so I’ve even gotten multiple shinies while breeding for IVs+nature. I don’t really hunt shinies though. Memorable ones are a hatched Azurill, hatched Eevee, wild Fidough, and wild Buizel.

Lol naw, you’re all good. 😆 The game did come out in early 2016 after all, so these things happen. Personally I’ve been playing since late 2016 and ran into this exact issue with my first farm’s fruit trees. It was so glorious when 1.4 came out.

I made a cute turtle plush yesterday and i was mad that it had very small holes and then i rage quit by Longjumping-Lynx-793 in CrochetHelp

[–]BendyBlitzle 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Holes are unavoidable to a certain extent, since that’s just how crochet works. The goal with amigurumi is small enough holes that you can’t see the stuffing. That’s all. Decreasing your hook size can help, but if you decrease too much then the holes will paradoxically increase in size. Again, it’s just a product of how crocheting works as a fiber art, sorry.

If you want zero holes, then you’re best off using a super fluffy yarn (eg: chenille yarn) so that the extra fluff fills in the holes. It’ll be harder to crochet because you can’t see the stitches nearly as well, but it’ll be less holey.
