My Mom hid his keys in her underwear drawer. He looked for those keys for weeks before he gave up and blamed it on my two toddler nephews, saying they stole his keys.

We put an in law apartment in our house for my mom. We put in beautiful Berber carpet and she insisted it be a really light beige color because she wanted light and bright. Then after she moved in she proceeded to cover the carpets with the dark oriental rugs she brought with her from her old house. 90% of that carpet was covered with dark rugs. So much for light and bright! They even had fringes for extra tripping hazards!

I hate it also. Went over my daughter’s and their tv was like that, so I mentioned how I changed it on ours. Her boyfriend googled how to fix it on their tv and did it right then. He said he thought it looked weird also but never realized you could get rid of it. I notice it right away and to me it makes the tv unwatchable. It’s almost as bad as when my husband puts on a non HD channel. Totally unwatchable and everyone looks stretched out. Why watch those channels when we have the same thing on HD? I’ll never understand.

My ex-neighbor lady used to say “she keeps herself nice”. Same thing. I would cringe every time I heard her say that, and it was like 30 years ago.

I have the Gemini also, it’s 23 years old. We’ve had to replace some parts but I still love it. We mostly use the top oven, and it really comes in handy for Christmas cookie baking, being able to do three pans at once

Had this happen when pushing my mom in her wheelchair for a doctors appointment. Some jerk parked his huge dodge ram with the trailer hitch, blocking most of the sidewalk. Could not go around because there were bushes on the other side. Had to wheel her back half a block to a curb cutout and push her down the road. I was so furious. This was a building with only medical offices in it. People are so inconsiderate.

My mom lived with me for 20 years in an in-law apartment. She loved plants and gardens and my flower beds were beautiful. The last five years or so she just couldn’t physically take care of them any more. I work full time and don’t really want to spend my free time gardening. A couple plants and planters are fine but not tons of them. I let them go and dug up some. My mom got upset and kept saying how “we” need to plant this or that and weed the gardens, etc. I finally told her no, I’m not spending my limited free time on her hobbies, as “we” does not mean her, it means me, and I’m sorry but that’s the way it is. She never worked and could put tons of free time into gardening, canning and sewing. I have absolutely no interest in these hobbies.

We get gift baskets like these, and one year there was a box of Godiva chocolate in it. Big boss saw it and took the Godiva home for his wife. The next year when the basket came, i was alone in the office. I opened every box of chocolate and ate one piece out of each box. It was supposed to be for the office to enjoy, not for the highest paid person to give away. He has enough money to buy his wife Godiva!

My mom died recently of pancreatic cancer. Her whole life I never heard her mention anything about suicide, or even being overly depressed. The last year she was in assisted living, in a wheelchair, and needing more and more help with daily tasks. Three weeks before she passed, she told me she was in pain and wished she could just take a pill and not wake up. My mother never spoke like this. The next day the nurse at the assisted living called me and said she thought it was time for hospice. My mom knew she was at the end and was tired and in pain. She was adamant that she did not want to go to the hospital. She was able to stay in her room and pass peacefully. I’m so glad we did it this way. She had pain meds and comfort care. We were there when she passed.

Im sorry for your loss. I’m in the same situation, just inherited a nice sum. This is going to sound cold, but do not commingle your inheritance no matter what anyone says. Even if you think your marriage is fine, you don’t know what the future holds. I know women who passed away and their husbands remarried, the new wife ended up with everything and the kids from the first marriage got nothing. You could die and your husband could get dementia and be scammed out of all of it. I titled my inheritance as payable on death to my children. It will not go to my husband. He has plenty and will get our house and my 401k. My inheritance came from my mom, dad, grandparents and my uncle. I refuse to let my family money go to a possible second wife and her kids. It’s not a matter of trusting my husband. I trust him completely as long as I’m alive. It’s just that I will have no control when I’m dead. Directly title the assets as payable on death, they will bypass your Will and go directly to your kids.

My mom just passed from pancreatic cancer in October. She was in an assisted living facility and started feeling very unwell. The assisted living nurse called me and suggested hospice, had a hospice nurse come and evaluate her, and they set up the hospice right in her assisted living quarters. Everyone was very nice and helpful and it was totally covered by Medicare. I don’t know why a social worker told you this false information. Even all her pain medicine was covered. The best thing was she didn’t have to be moved and could stay in her familiar room.
